that fight was bullshit man I still feel Roy should have left after Ruiz but I realize he wouldn't live happily after that, I realize Jones is a fighter it just ****in blows to see him at 6 losses when he shouldn't have that many, this loss should have never happened, it was a hometown stoppage just like Cotto-Corley, Cotto would still have won eventually IMO but Corley wasn't done when they stopped it yo not even close and with Roy it was worse because it was a foul that started all his troubles, they jobbed him man this made me a firm believer that if you're not from that country don't fight there, bring them over here or you wont get a fair shot. Howard John Foster was the same referee in the Ricky Hatton-Juan Lazcano fight which had a few brutal exchanges too and he didn't stop shit, what Roy was doing was executing a plan he wasn't done off he was still very much in the fight but he was still regrouping from a back head shot, so he figures let me slip and slide and get him to open up once I'm good but before he got good the fight was waved off..
shit is crazy B-Hop is right he was taking MUCH more of a beating against Calzaghe and they let him rock because he's ****in Roy Jones Jr, a legend that you HAVE to let bang out, he wasn't down again he was just wobbly still from the ILLEGAL shot to the back of the head and doing his usual ring roll, slippin and moving, he was getting hit a lot but once again only because of that ILLEGAL punch. the source of that loss was based on a foul, when he committed a foul worthy of Disqualification 12 years ago he was Disqualified and now 12 years later it's done to him and the shit roc like it's nothing. they did him dirty son that shit is WHACK!
Roy Jones is a bit full of himself at times but that is the fighter in him. At heart you can tell he is a great guy and very down to earth, nothing like Mayweather.
let it go people! Hatton loses to pacman & pbf & you say he's done but jones gets embarrased by green & you call it a fluke & he's still got it...you people are so ridiculous...
Enough is Enough
I like Roy as much as the next boxing fan, but let's be for real. Is he not past 40? After getting knocked out by Tarver and Johnson he has not been the same. I know I am stating the obvious but the following is something that I think every one should think about. Anytime Roy gets into the ring with a fighter that is strong and can walk Roy down, he will have serious problems. It's about styles, and at I think a Green rematch would probably end up a lot worse. Don't get it twisted, I don't believe Green would have had a chance against Roy if Roy was in his prime, but today he is way beyond that point. I hope Roy bows out gracefully, and becomes the best analyst in the game. Oh yeah by the way Bernard I understand your old and all but come on! You still really want this fight. Do every legitimate fight fan a favor and please challenge yourself by fighting Bad Chad or by moving up and fighting either Haye or Adamek. I 'll cut you some slack because I know there is a lack of hig priced opponents, but trying to still fight Roy just about kills your credibility as a top notch fighter.
here is a video interview taken right after the fight
I like those Australian fans and staff going out of their way to give Roy some props. Australia is full of good people.
Good to see Roy seems in good enough spirits. Seems us fans take the losses worse than the fighters sometimes lol
If Roy was to fight again I would like to see a rematch, basically because he made a bad mistake. But I did agree with the stoppage.
Roy has always been a class act after his losses. The superman days may be over, but I want to see Roy get his revenge against Green. Then he can fight Hopkins, then retire whether he wins or loses.
You guys are insane. Why do you want to see a rematch? Thats almost sadistic. Green knows that all he has to do is touch Jones on the side of the head and he will be done. Jones has zero chin left..he's probably brain damaged at this point, and he should have retired when glen put him in a coma 5 years ago.
ROY JONES IS ****ING DONE. How many times does he need to get shamefully beat down before you can finally understand that?
I kind of agree with you with this. I remeber when Danny was saying he had the perfect punch to knock Jones out in the week. That punched to the side of the head was the punch and almost the same exact punch that Johnson put him to sleep with.
I was one of the people saying that Green would give Roy some problems while others were just saying Jones would beat him easy on these forums.
I Don't think Roy underestimated Green in preparation for this fight, I think by the time the fight started Roy was cold because it too long to start. Usually Roy is pacing back in the forth in the ring but not for this fight wasn't really able too.
I would only want to see the rematch if Roy came out like he did with Tito and fought with his hands up because he wasn't sure how strong Tito's punches would be at the higher weights.

A legend like Jones deserves a rematch. Yeah he was stunned, but a fighter like Jones should get the benefit of the doubt. I wanted him to retire after the 3rd Tarver fight because I thought it would have been a good way to finish his career. He clearly lost and was shot, but he had his moments and went the distance with the man who knocked him out.
I just don't want to see Roy end his career losing to a journeyman fighter. Green landed a few uppercuts but most of those punches were blocked. He was wobbly, but if his legs were out, he would have went down. Regardless whether people think it was rightful stoppage or not, Roy should get a second chance against this guy.
It's up to Roy - that would be a rough way to go out for such a great fighter. Personally I would love to Jones come back and win - and go on and beat em all...but I don't think he will. He wants to fight green again though he should go for it. It isn't like he took a lot punishment. It was a flash knockdown and Green took good advantage of it.
I was wondering about the standing eight - they must not have had it - does anyone know? It is a done deal though and he lost. Whatever he does now is up to him.
