Paul Williams calls out both pacman and mayweather in this interview, he made one excellent point. He said "mayweather won't fight me because i am too big yet he fights guys who are smaller than him."

Another funny thing is, when folks were calling him the most feared fighter, yet he couldn't draw flies to shit (not to sure about that, but it did seem like it).
Now that he wants some of Floyd and Pac, that is the first wall people put up, "He can't draw, so he is not worthy"...
Floyd has already ignored Paul on two occasions, and Roach/Manny are not that stupid...Or are they?
I do think it is funny though the sudden shift in Floyd fans/many others I saw supporting Paul all of a sudden not liking Paul Williams...He was their savior when Floyd was out of the game, and folks needed someone to take out Margo.
:Thinkingo
I can't hold floyd or pac accountable for not fighting williams when he's a natural MW and they were lightweights at the age of 21. For them to be expected to fight a 6'1 WW he has to beat some credible elite opponents and become a big name fighter and draw. I used to like this cat but when you criticize someone for fighting smaller fighters in the fourth division of his career and your 2 divisions below your natural division you just sound ridiculous. Is he serious? give it up man and go prove yourself in the MW division and stop trying to keep yourself in the spotlight by calling out the proven fighters in the 4th+ division who have already made it clear they won't fight you.
I just don't buy that Floyd is going to change his stance and just "take on the world" before he retires. Floyd is confident, but he's also realistic about fights. I doubt he would even be back in boxing if it weren't for a fight with Pacquiao. I would bet that he fights Pacquiao once or twice and then leaves again, probably for good. His fans still believe he's willing to be a fighting champion, but it's probably not going to happen.
I don't see what everyones beef with PW is. If he can make the weight then **** it, he can fight where he wants. There's no penalty for being too tall. The guys' a beanpole.
Calling out guys half your size seems to be the new thing, Oscar does it, Hopkins does it, Williams does it. I think im gonna go with the flow and go over to the neigbour and beat up his kid. It's a huge risk for me as he is p4p at his daycare group.
Pac Moving up 7 weight classes > Williams moving down 2 weight classes
Mayweather Moving up 5 weight classes > Williams moving down 2 weight classes
:puppy_dog
Actually Pac moved 11 weightclasses. He just got belts in 7 weightclasses. I don't understand why Paul Williams is not blatantly criticized for fighting at welterweight when he debuted as a junior middleweight. It don't matter if he can make welterweight. The only reason he does this is because of the big advantage that he has over the other welterweights. If he really wants to be great then he should be doing what other greats are doing like going higher and not going one weight class lower and people is saying that what he is doing is a great thing. Even Armstrong started at a lower weight, featherweight although he won the featherweight belt then welterweight then lightweight belt simultaneously. Paul Williams should not be compared to Henry Armstrong at all because what he is doing is not very Armstrongesque like.
With that said Paul Williams SUCK balls.
And how is a good point when Paul has fought smaller guys his whole career while Floyd has fought bigger guys 99% of his career !!!
P williams fought many guys near his weight and height when he fought as Jr Middleweight and Middleweight. He wanted to fight pavlik who is like 6-2 and a half and even he chicken out. With bogus staph infection while missing doctor appointments and than now fighting in December anyway.
Floyd fought many small mexican fighters at 130-135. He beat guys like Carlos Hernandez and Jesus Chavez who were shorter and had far less reach than him. Even when he fought Zab at welter it wasent like they were bigger than him or even Arturo Gatti at 140 or had fights in the 120's in his early career.
Often it comes down to skill in boxing. Thomas Hearns was a monster but shorter guys like Leonard and hagler still KOd him. Quintana beat P Willaims in their first fight being like 4 inches shorter, if Mayweather had great confidence in his skill he would have fought Williams.
I think Sergio Martinez will give P williams a good fight. His only lost was to margocheater many years ago and he was cleary robbed when he beat CIntron and was given a draw. Argentine fighters are known for having great chin and heart, so if P Williams wins it is a good victory.
In the interview P Williams talks about the insane number of punches he and pac throw so it would be like Hagler vs Hearns with a great size mismatch LOL
Ok... Beyond the looming ticket sales on this matter, obviously Paul williams isn't a household name like Mayweather or Pac Man, but could he outbox them at a propper weight setting? I think he and his team should be calling out the top dogs, why not? Boxing is all about branding right now and to be honest it is getting kind of sickening. If all you guys care about is making these pampered stars richer then so be it, but I like seeing style match-ups and so far who has figured out Williams style... Not to say these guys couldn't do it because they are at the top of the boxing elite, but for christ sake give the young fella a chance to shine don't take out his legs from up under him. It's sad but in the boxing world today if you are an up and coming boxer you have to call people out to expose people to your name whether it works or not... Point in case mayweather has been calling people out for years and you guys love to hate on him based on his persona you people buy into, but you still watch his fights anyways and make his wallet fatter just to see someone possibly take him out. Well how the hell is Williams to be recognized world wide without calling out a big name? Something is a bit wrong in the boxing world today... Peace.
How can you become a legend and achieve greatness when other fighters are not giving you a chance?
well I have always said that I dont think that is true. 1st of all Im a huge Paul Williams fan. I think he's the real deal but I just think fans always go overboard with saying that one guy is scared or ducking another guy just because they dont take a fight when you want to. They have other options that are better. As for Williams, I think a guy like Clottey would fight him. Williams just challanged him but he wanted the fight at 154 and for not much money. If you do that then you either have to give him more money or come down to WW. Thats my point. Guys always look at things from one way. If you will come down for Floyd & Pac then come all the way down for Clottey. Why not? He wont do it because its too much of a risk. He's willing to take that risk for the bigger fights & paydays in Floyd & Pac but not willing to do it for Clottey. Im not mad at him for that but the point is thats what those guys are doing. You weigh the risk.
Its the same about Mosley. I took up for him for not fighting Willliams in this thread but at the same time Mosley cant be clowning Floyd for not fighting him when he doesnt fight Williams. Its all a cycle. All these guys are hypocrites. Thats my point. All these guys have fights that they will take or wont take at certain times and all these guys clown one fighter for the same thing they are doing and they dont even see it. Also, there is one huge thing that I want you and everyone else to rememeber that I say all the time. Williams brought all this on himself by losing. If he didnt lose then he would be the living legend and everyone would be talking about him. He set himself back by losing to an average guy so lets not make him the victim. He had his chance and he blew it. I dont care if he wont the rematch or not. Tell me one other person on the P4P list that has a recent L like that? No one. No one even comes close to having an L like that. If Floyd lost to a Quintana then he would be roasted. The only guys who have a bad loss on the P4P list all came in there first few pro fights.
Thats not what I mean. Im saying that Floyd is big enough now and will definatly be big enough after Pac & Mosley to carry things his ownself. He wont need big money names then because he will be the new Oscar. Thats my point
Will see... But, I don't see it happening.
Im not making excuses. You guys are. You guys are saying that just because they dont fight now autotmatically means they are scared and will never fight. Come on. Alot of guys dont fight certain guys now for whatever reason but fights them later on. My point on the weight is that you try to make it sound like these guys are scared when theyve done more than Williams in every way including fighting in more divsions which is what really makes Williams a legend. Dont say that they are scared to fight a guy in there 4th and more division while Williams has never done that himself
How can you become a legend and achieve greatness when other fighters are not giving you a chance?
WTF are you talking about. Even a big money guy Floyd has said legacy don't pay bills. He is not about legacy he is about money...
Thats not what I mean. Im saying that Floyd is big enough now and will definatly be big enough after Pac & Mosley to carry things his ownself. He wont need big money names then because he will be the new Oscar. Thats my point
So if Martinez beats him he shouldn't get much credit because he beat a smaller man at 160 then?
If that is what you got out of that then yea sure why not...
Fuck where Williams/Floyd/Pac started. That is an excuse lets not make excuses here. Is Floyd a true legit WW right now? Is Pac a top 3 WW right now? Williams saying he can make WW right now so that makes him a WW. You want a WW fighter to go up to 168 to fight Dawson? Why? When that same WW fighter wants to fight other WWs. That makes no sense bro. Williams is willing to go to 147. Floyd is a real WW he can not make 140 so lets not say he is too small. And, Pac at worst a top 3 WW arguable the best WW right now. Why make excuses? Is not like Williams is asking them to go up in weight.

Money is overrated now. Money was big when Floyd was just a modest name. Now Floyd is a money man. He just sold a mil with JMM. Now imagine what he does if he beats Pac in impressive fashion? Then he beats Mosley in another mega fight? Those 2 wins on a huge stage will allow him to fight atleast 2 lesser name guys and still sell over a mil, not to mention he will probably get like 80/20 splits in those fights
WTF are you talking about. Even a big money guy Floyd has said legacy don't pay bills. He is not about legacy he is about money...
Clottey Martinez brings no money. Spinks bring money is St. Louis Floyd will not fight him. Fights will never happen Floyd don't give a shit about cares about the money. I can't see why fans defend a fighter like that.
