Being that Mayweather is by most considered the most adaptable fighter on earth, he'll likely look to capitalize on some technical flaws and bad habits of Manny Pacquiao.
Can you name some technical flaws or bad habits of Manny Pacquiao?
One thing I did not like in the Pacquiao-Cotto fight was the right hands that Cotto did land. Roach said, Cotto cocks his left hand before he throws it and a best way to counter is with a right hook
However...
When Pacquiao threw a right hook to counter Cotto's left hand Cotto occasionally followed up with a right straight and he landed on target because Pacquiao's center was wide open. Roach better fix that or Mayweather may just use a check hook-right straight combination all night against Pacquiao.
Sum it up: These flaws that are being pointed out, are negated due to his speed and the inability to find a sparring partner to emulate Pac.
Yeah, hence me saying I don't think you can prepare for Pacquiao properly, if at all.
Unorthodox? A fast southpaw with no defense, no jab, throws alot of punches, shorter with a shorter reach and doesnt have great techincal boxing skills is someone that Mayweather's world class defense cant deal with?:pat:
Mayweather last week said Pac was one dimensional..so whos lying Shawn or Mayweather?....
Well since you're such a god damn expert, why don't you become a fighter and get your ass in the ring, instead of trying to convince everyone how you have the answers on how to beat Pacquiao? It's annoying.
By the way, Mayweather also said "Manny Pacquiao is the truth" and then went on to say Pacquiao deserves to be right up there at the top of the P4P list alongside himself. However, that was before Pacquiao was anywhere near Floyd's weight class, if I remember correctly.
So who's lying, Floyd Mayweather, or Floyd Mayweather? Either he's "the truth" or he's "one-dimensional". Which is it?

Now imagine that, but with a guy with footwork, head movement, more accurate, bigger, stronger, and one of the top 3 counter pounchers in the game.
Floyd's fans are much more confident than Pacquiao's fans, and with good reason.
When you ask a Pac fan how he will beat Mayweather, "PAC IS GOD, Manny KO Gayweather in round 1"
When you ask a Floyd fan, they can point out all sorts of technical and other advantages why Floyd will win.
Pac has too many flaws that most flomos probably have memorized by now.
The funny thing about Pac is that occasionally some of those flaws become strengths. Like lifting his foot off the ground after he lands a straight left helps him move laterally much faster. Also when he lunges in with a right jab and throws a straight left behind it, although leaves himself exposed to a straight right hand, the lunging actually makes it much harder to time.
Some of Pac's flaws are so awkward that most fighter's can't figure out why they can't time Pac or why Pac's head is not in the place where they thought it would be.
A bad habit I've noticed about Pac is that he recoils after a straight right and sometimes drops his right side guard to throw a right hook counter and get's nailed with a left hook. Marquez knows what I'm talking about.
technical flaws of pac:
1) he's a great finisher
2) he's too exciting
3) he's too tough for his own good
4) he never ducks a challenge
technical flaws of Pullcounter:
1) he's a closet Pacquiao nuthugger
2) he's a closet Cotto hater
3) he says things then refuses to back it up
4) he's still pissed about a decision from 2 years ago
These so-called flaws that people are seing are not as easy to exploit as some are making them out to be. Pacquiao isn't like any other fighter I've ever seen, to be honest. From what I can tell, I don't think it's easy to prepare for him.
This much is true - his offense is his defense to a large degree and makes it tough for anyone to exploit the ch1nks in his armour.
Bottom line: Any flaws Pacquiao has are not repetitive enough to fully take advantage of.
I do think that his lunging is quite a glaring issue when faced with an opponent like Mayweather though. It's forgivable when his opponent meets the lunge with an attack of their own; but when you have someone stepping back and timing you onto a counterpunch it could be decisive.
Roach will try to iron it out I'm sure, but maybe it's one of those habbits that you just can't kick - because it's been an issue for as long as I've been watching Pacquiao and he still persists with it.
I wouldn't even pretend to know. Why bother. We have a real pro fighter in here who sparred with Pacquiao for many weeks and who knows much more than any of us. For this reason, I'd rather keep my trap shut and try to avoid being an armchair boxing expert.
I do have a few thoughts on it, however. These so-called flaws that people are seing are not as easy to exploit as some are making them out to be. Pacquiao isn't like any other fighter I've ever seen, to be honest. From what I can tell, I don't think it's easy to prepare for him. Maybe impossible. Mayweather's defense seems to be crafted to deal with more traditional styles, not an unorthodox one like Pacquiao. I'd imagine Roy Jones is similar in that way. Joe Calzaghe too.
The off-balance issues people point out, for example. I'll take Shawn's word when he says Manny has mastered the ability to throw powerful shots while on the move, where anyone else would not be able to get any decent leverage behind those kind of shots.
Bottom line: Any flaws Pacquiao has are not repetitive enough to fully take advantage of. That's how I see it, but as I said, I don't have anywhere near enough technical knowledge to put forth a more convincing argument than someone like Shawn Porter.

Suceptable to "quick counter" when lunging in
Drops right hand when throwing his left "handed fastball"
When throwing right hooks...if not thrown with enough power, wide open to a counter left hook/uppercut
Loves to engage into a firefight.....
What do you see as technical flaws or bad habits for Pacquiao?

I wonder how Porter would feel if he sparred with Mayweather a far better defender and technical puncher
Thanks for turning it into another Mayweather praise thread. :fing02:

I don't like it when he reaches in, and he does it all too often. He leaves himself open to a wide variety of punches - particularly an uppercut or lead hook.
It'll be cool to see if Mayweather dusts off his right uppercut and brings it in against Manny - it's a weapon that's been underused against Pacman so far IMO.

see that a real flaw right there but not too people can make him pay for it and it has become one of his streantgh cause people dont know where the hell the punches are comming from. so thats how he do it 1-2 throw his left leg around and finish it with a jab. cotto dodge all that now only if he could have dodge more of that in the later rounds. we are going to see some nice counter in this pbf vs pac
Erik didnt punish Manny. He won by the slimmest margin 115-113 on all judges card. He outboxed Manny, he didnt give him a beating. The big cut was due to a headbutt.
I was talking about when Manny gets into that defensive shell, not the fight as a whole.
i find it ridicilous that some chubs sitting behing their computer screen are telling what the number 1 p4p in the world are doing for mistakes or doing wrong.
but bro aleast people are talking boxing to see who they will favor in the fight instead of making countless hate threads towards pac and floyd

I'm not just talking about the Cotto fight. In that case, yeah he was testing Cotto's power. But this is something that Pacquiao always does. He did it against Morales the first time, and Erik punished him.
