Fact Erik Morales was not shot when he beat Pacquiao
I keep hearing this stupid shit being posted from time to time as a way to discredit Manny Pacquiao. Only and Idiot or someone new to boxing would make such an ignorant statement.
First, Erik Morales was only 28 years old, had a record of 47-2, and his only losses came to another hall of famer fighter. Not just that both losses could have easily been scored in favor of Morales, making him and undefeated fighter when pac faced him.
Second, people forget how skilled Erik Morales (a fukkin beast) was in his prime. P4P he is one of the greatest boxer punchers and a helluva problem for any fighter in any era. Losing to Morales is actually not a bad thing and something you can't hold against a fighter. He is a legend and an all-time great.
old news.
Erik is one of the best in mexican boxing.
and a loss to Rahim and David diaz is not the same loss he got from manny.
He got out runned by Rahim and cant out punched a 135 pounder diaz.
in 130 he got owned in 2nd match and 3rd match is his last game by manny.
Morales was clearly slowed down. Physically he was still capable of taking a lot of punishment and fighting back. In the second and third fights I think he was weight drained and lost some durability.
I say that fight was really close anyway. I wouldn't argue with a draw. Pac fought back in every exchange, and Morales gave away the 12th.
All I know is that most people thought EM was a big fighter for those weights. One of the biggest. Pac was just an ordinary size guy at that time. Then the rematch comes and out the blue Pac looks like Hulk Hogan and made EM look like a little boy in the ring physicaly. Thats why I always say that I truly dont beleive that Pac used steroids but if he did then it started back then because his body changed crazy quick and is getting better by the day ever since. He probably was like 135-137 in the ring in there 1st fight and was 147 in the rematch and 3rd fight. You never see that happened
lols... the figth w/ morales at 130 lbs was pac's first fight at 130 lbs and morales' 2nd or 3rd fight at 130 lbs.
once pac got acclimated to the weight he could put more muscle on. that's all there is to it
Come on man, you dont have to get KO to get destroyed. He lost every single round. Every one of them. Actually, you can knock Floyd for the WW stuff if you want but you cant knock him at 140. He asked to fight Hatton in his very 1st fight. Its documented but they said NO. He wanted Cotto but Arum said he was too green. Everyone knows that. Thats not a big deal to me though because he probably was. The Tszyu fight was business. Floyd was HBO and Tszyu was Showtime. I keep telling everyone that it was setup for them to fight if Tszyu beat Hatton because that was the last fight of Tszyu's contract with Showtime and Showtime had just announced that they werent signing anymore fighters to deals and would only choose on a fight by fight basis instead of contracts. That opened the door for Tszyu-Floyd to happened. Dont forget that Tszyu was like hurt the whole time. He finally came back to have the Mitchell fight that he was supposed to and then the 2 big Showtime stars in him & Hatton had to fight. After that he was supposed to fight Floyd. He beat Hatton and Floyd beat Gatti. Perfect setup but he lost
so basically you're saying that its ok for Floyd to have fights not made due to business deals?
but bitter against Pac doing the same?

morales wasn't shot nor was he past his prime, the problem is that morales' most effective weight classes were 126 lbs and lower.
I agree with this statement.
i dont know about that. he had been in 3 wars with barrera. and he did loose to zahir raheem right after wards. imo, jmm layed the blue print for morales right before he beat pac.
Raheem by no means is average(his problem was he didn't like to get hit), yes, his pro-career did not turn out so well. But, Raheem's style I always knew would give Erika problems, shot or not!!
I was one of the few who picked Raheem, not based on whether Erika was shot or not! I just felt Raheem's speed and movement was gonna give Erika hell, like it always has.
yeah he's definatly better than that. Im a Raheem fan so I dont want to diss him. I like his skills but the point is if he shuts EM out one fight then you cant give Pac all this extra credit for beating him the next fight and you definatly cant allow a 3rd fight, and if he wins the 3rd fight then you definatly cant give him mad credit again. I mean how much more proof do you need? Why didnt you have a 4th and 5th fight to see if EM can even win a single round
Again, IM not hating on Pac. I think he deserves mad credit and I have him #1 P4P. I love him as a fighter and Ill watch all his fights and I always root for him in most cases. Thats no problem. The problem is when everyone takes it to the next level and starts acting like he's doing things that all these other fighters arent and that he's accomplished so much more and has this ATG resume. Its not true if you really break down how the fights happened. Its just not true. Thats my only problem.
Im also not big on all that weight stuff. He's the little man fighting all the big guys while Floyd is the big man fighting all the little guys. Nevermind that Pac was destroying EM at SFW coming into the ring at 147 pounds at the same exact time Floyd was fighting Zab & Baldy at WW coming into the ring at 146 pounds and Baldy coming in at 165. Then they have the nerve to twist it like Floyd is the guy who picks on the little people and Pac is fighting all the big monsters. Its a joke
So Morales got destroyed by Raheem, by what devastating UD?
so when Floyd come up to 140, did he fought Tszyu? Cotto? no he fought the legendary Chop Corley & the immortal Henry Bruseles

First of all, wasn't the rematch arranged before the Raheem fight, including the weight it would be held at? I swear I read it was. Yet some people claim Manny picked on a shot Morales. Well, if Morales magically became shot after the first Pacquiao fight, isn't it safe to say it's very possible that the first fight took something out of him? Maybe Morales was shot because of Pacquiao? Not impossible.
Oh, and I guess Pacquiao was also damaged goods, since he lost twice by brutal KO. He was destroyed by average guys like Singsurat and Torrecampo.
Yeah, I think the weight may have been set for the rematch. Morales moved up for Raheem, got embarrassed, came back down, lost...ask to have the next fight up in weight, Roach refused, Morales gave in for the check, got destroyed...end. Think that is how it went.
That Raheem fight was telling and it wasn't all about Raheem's style even though the style was a problem. Pac could have taken something away from him too. Morales was already past his prime when he fought Pac and gave a lot to win that match...so he was bound to fall off some more without getting it back at that stage.
Pac's career is a bit surprising. Maybe being so young helped him...as well as it coming from one solid shot from each KO...instead of having to battle it out with fighters like a prime MAB...

Come on man, you know thats night & day. Youre talking about a teenage guy just starting compared to a guy who is 10 years older than his real age due to all the wars he's been in. IDK if the fight was already made or not. I dont even rip him for that. He was trying to avenge a loss. I rip the media for acting like he was Superman after the win like they didnt just see EM get shutout by an average guy in the fight before. Then I really blame everyone for letting there be a 3rd fight. Not only did they allow it but they went even crazier after that win. You know its true.
Again, if you want to say that Pac took something out of EM in that 1st fight, then what did Floyd take out of Oscar & Hatton and what did Margarito take out of Cotto? I dont even mean that in a way that a guy already beat them but those guys literaly didnt look the same. Hatton almost got stopped by Lazcano after the Floyd fight and everyone said that Cotto wasnt the same. We all know the Oscar story. Still, I dont even rip Pac for that because I think he probably wouldve beat those guys at there best but we cant act like those were these super tough fights and that these are legendary wins. They arent if you really break them down. They just arent. Its one thing to give him his props and rank him #1 P4P. Its another to annoint him as the best thing since slice bread and act like he's doing so much than all these other fihgters. Its not true. These arent the legendary wins that people are making them out to be and deep down real Pac fans know it but it doesnt matter because the media has deemed him the chosen one and he is going to get all the praise no matter what happeneds.
This thread is garbage. No one says EM was shot. Everyone says he was shot in the rematch. The whole point is that when both were right, EM clearly outboxed him and won. Pac then had a rematch "after" EM had just been shutout by Raheem. Not beaten but shutout. Thats when people said EM was done or shot. Then Pac rematches him and suddenly comes into the ring at 147 pounds and stops him. Everyone went crazy. Why? He just got shutout by an average guy like Raheem. The normal EM would kill Raheem. Not only that but the public actually accepted a 3rd fight after EM had just been shutout by the average Raheem & shutout and stopped by Pac. In the 3rd fight what happeneds? He's shutout and KO again and everyone goes crazy again. That stuff is fake man. Floyd would get ripped for stuff like that. You cant deny that EM got destroyed by Raheem. Once that happends then its over yet people not only let Pac have a rematch but a 3rd fight also? Come on now.
To show you how bad Diaz sucks, that same EM went to LW and almost beat Diaz. Alot of people thought he won. So when Pac moves up, who does he pick to fight? Not Nate, not Guzman, not Casamayor, but Diaz. You already know whats going to happened if he cant even beat that dead version of Morales. Then he fights the admittedly by Roach, dead Oscar who Floyd already just beat. Then he faces the admittedly by Roach, done Hatton who Floyd just beat and was almost KO by Lazcano after that. Then he faces the again admittedly by Roach, shot Cotto who was just slaughtered by Margarito and hasnt looked the same sense. You guys cant see through it but its there in your face

NO No no....Morales was past his prime when he beat Pac, but not shot.
It was like his last big push for doing something great.
For age: It's not about the number but the actual age of the fighter based on wear and tear.
Example: What age did Freddie Roach go down hill and then retire?

pac lost that first fight due to the severe gash from the headbutt in the 3rd round i recall, that gash was just devastating, I couldn't even bare to look, it made cotto's cut with clotty look like a scratch.
