Floyds defense is great, no doubt about that. He is a defensive first fighter, this is why he never throws combinations.
Pacquiao being a southpaw is going to make his defensive game a little uneven, he will have to resort to a Winky Wright style defense (much like he did against the southpaws he had faced). However, this defense simply isn't as good as his traditional defense he uses against orthodox fighters.
Anyways, regardless of skill etc, what will Floyd do when Manny does land on him? It seems all of Manny's punches do damage, even his jabs. Cottos face was red and had a little nick by round 2. Everyone Pacquiao has faced has developed swelling from 1 or 2 punches even. So what's the deal here? Floyd is the smallest guy Pacquiao will have faced since David Diaz. I don't buy into Floyd being that big, it's easy to look big beside a blown up featherweight - but that doesn't change the fact that Ricky Hatton was throwing him around like a ragdoll for 6 rounds that people seem to forget.

That's what Cotto did from round 5 onwards. It ain't running if he's winning almost every round.
on the same token, manny could get frustrated which would lead to him getting careless which would lead to him getting caught
this fight is 50/50 on paper, maybe 55-45 in floyd's favor - we'll see how it plays out
i just find it funny that some people make it seem like there's no other outcome other than manny breaking floyd down and owning him. as if floyd's going to be fighting with his hands tied behind his back
aint nobody breaking down floyd, although manny has a great chance to do the impossible
Mayweather won't stand a chance if he stands toe-to-toe with Pac, not even for a moment. Those pussy hands of his will give turn against him. And it's not like he packs any power in those punches anyway.

floyd will run for his life
Aggression, toughness and power don't trouble Floyd. Good defensive fighters are able to deal with power and aggression. Manny being tough is irrelevent.
Speed, yes can definitely throw defensive timing off (for a short while anyway) but what I am most certain bothers Floyd is a taller, stronger man coming forward applying smart pressure constantly popping the jab from different angles, speeds etc
And guess what? That's exactly what DLH did, and Floyd adjusted and won the fight.
You mean the same DLH that couldn't pull the trigger? That's the fight where Roach noticed Oscar's flaw.
Do you think Manny Pacquiao can't pull the trigger?
in my opinion it's a terrible style match up for Floyd as well. He has had trouble with everything that makes Manny great..speed, aggressiveness, toughness and power. Above all, southpaws.
I really think people are still underestimating Pacquiao, but the man just finished smacking Cotto around the ring, the same man that had sugar Shane on the back foot..
I'm not underestimating him. He is great, its obvious. I just think Floyd will make him miss too much and counter too well. Floyd isn't like Miguel or Oscar, Manny won't get the same opportunities to land so many punches on Floyd.
Just my take though, it could go either way.
What will Floyd do?
Like any intelligent fighter, he will quickly adjust to make sure he doesn't repeat the same mistake that got him hit. That's why you don't see Floyd getting hit by the same punch over and over, everytime he gets hit he knows he did something wrong, and there's an adjustment he has to make to stop it from happening again.
untill he adjusts to every punch Manny likes throwing and just stops throwing punches all together to avoid getting hit. I think come round 7, Floyd won't be doing much.
Floyd has an excellent chin, I dont think Manny would be able to drop him or KO him with one punch.
Also, it seems pretty clear you started watching Floyd fight very recently based on your assesment.
This is the truth.
The key to this fight is that Mayweather is tough to hit. Oscar and Cotto weren't.
Manny definately doesn't have even close to the one-punch power he would need to hurt Mayweather and Floyd just isn't getting hit enough to lose this fight.
Mayweather wins a fairly comfortable decision I think. Its just a terrible style matchup for Manny.

Sup Riz.
I think Manny might already know this. It's just a guess, but I'd say he knows far more than us Internet boxing "experts".
excellent guess
the question should be "what will manny do when he realizes floyd isnt easy to hit"

But FFS, the Pac cheerleaders are 10x worse, and you are the head groupie
Yeah, he is one of the biggest hypocrites in the history of man.
manny will keep on truckin, his will power would want to not quit.. he'd do whatever freddie tells him to do
Manny will land on the body, the shoulders, the arms of Floyd and when Floyd opens up with a counter straight right, Manny will be fast enough to land with his own straight left.

Floyd gets hit in every fight. He has felt powerful shots before.
I don't think either guy gets KO'd in this one. Manny won't get near the amount of opportunities to land on Mayweather as he did against Cotto. Would Floyd have gotten caught by the short left that floored Cotto at the end of round 4? I highly doubt it. Would he have been caught off balance like Cotto was for the first flash knockdown? Doubt that one also. When Miguel was standing and fighting with a cool head, it was very competitive. Floyd will be able to fight cautiously and use the whole ring for 12 rounds. It would be an amazing achievement if Manny was able to break him down and stop him, but I just can't see it happening.
