People are ignoring that in the close quarters he did this and prolonged the clenching sessions to AVOID the inside fighting where he had the disadvantage and was getting beat badly. Yes they initiated by Ward, but when he let go to do his business on the inside Kessler held for a LONGER period of time.
pretty sure he didnt hold @ all
holding isnt so bad
its the hold 1 arm aroud the intire body and hitting with the other thats bad
This is hilarious is you actually believe this

Ward held and hit all night vs Miranda and Kessler. It works like a charm !
The referee came to Kessler's corner and told him and his crew that Kessler can keep punching during clinches UNLESS he says break.
Hands free...punch out. It's Kessler's fault if he chooses not to.
Exactly, look at the beginning of RD3 in the first 20 seconds. As soon as Ward gets inside he works the body then goes up the ladder and finishes with a combo up top. That would have happened all day unless Kessler held on and prolonged the clinches as defense mechanism.
Wrong, the broadcaster even said in like round 3 that Kessler initiated a clinch, might have been Bernstein.
lols... 1x in round 3 doesn't mean he is a habitual clincher.
just cause you smoked pot 1x doesn't make you a pothead.
Your missing the point, whnever Ward started a clinch he let go to do his work on the inside and Kessler would hold on in defense to stop the infighting. The referee even told them to fight out of it which Ward tried to do and the ref had on one particular instance told Kessler to let go.
ward was holding and hitting. it was like watching a young bhop.
lol yeah and unfortunatley against some of these tricky fighters who know how to flirt and bend the rules it really is a disadvantage. Kessler really is too strict for his own good. He's a great credit to the sport, but for his own sake, he should have been rougher last night I felt...
Yup. Been saying the same thing, star.
Nice to see you, btw.

kessler didn't initiate the holding and he was not holding and hitting like ward, nor did he lead w/ his head like ward.

Both men did hold, but Ward did it more often.
The ref let them fight and get rough on the inside. He told them to punch out, and in between rounds told Kessler in the corner that when he says let go, he can still fight. But when he says stop, you stop. To me, it didn't seem that he was deliberately favoring Ward over Kessler.
Ward took advantage, Kessler didn't.

I'm surprised. Kessler rarely ever clinches. Check the Calzaghe fight, for an example -- only 3 clinches initiated by him, once when they got tangled up, and another time when Joe hurt him to the body, IIRC. There was one other time.
Kessler = cleanest fighter I have ever seen. You might as well be fightng a bar of soap in that ring.

Probably because he is one of the few that bothered to pick up and read the boxing rules and follow it.
