Does Kessler's loss to Ward hurt Calzaghe's legacy? A lot of posters are jumping all over Calzaghe's resume now that Kessler lost convincingly to Ward. It's hard to say Kessler's loss has no bearing on Calzaghe. On the flip side, if Kessler had won every Super Six fight and dominated the tournament.. A lot of Calzaghe supporters would have come out and said.. Calzaghe beat the guy who dominated the Super Six. So, What type of impact does everyone think Kessler's loss has on Calzaghe? Poll to follow.
I'v lost a lot of respect for kess, i thaught he was awesome and could dominate any one at super middle weight. This loss made me realise he hasn't rly got many big names on his resume, the super six will show us where every1 stands. Awesome tourny
Calzaghe's resume just took a major hit last night.
Kessler was regarded as one of Calzaghe's best wins.
Calzaghe could have beaten everyone in 5 divisions, retired undefeated, and climb mount Rushmore with his bare hands, and people would still call him a bum.
Beat Hopkins....oh, Hopkins was old and ready to retire....Hopkins then demolishes the unbeaten, younger Pavlik
He beats Jones and Jones was old a washed up....now Jones is looking like a rejuvenated version of himself getting ready to take on Danny Green
calzaghe faced him 2 years ago
but wait calzaghe faces a 44 year old hopkins who is ten years removed from his prime and a 39 year old jones who is at least 5 years from his prime and you somehow think those are "great wins"
ward fights kessler 2 years later then calzaghe when kessler is 30 and "STOP THE PRESSES HE'S FINISHED"

No absolutely not. A lot of posters here hate Calzaghe to begin with so any chance they get, they will hate on him. When Jones beat Hopkins back in the day but Jones later lost to Glen Johnson, did that somehow tarnish Hopkins' record or accomplishments? Did Margarito's loss to Mosley tarnish Cotto's legacy too? The logic of some people makes no sense at times, even if you try to make it logical.
Kessler looked flabby and slow last night, I have never seen him that bad for some reason. Ward looked great but Kessler made it all that much easier by not engaging or doing anything at all. Kessler has utilized shoulder rolling and excellent balance in the past to destroy people but last night, he was stumbling all over the place and looked like a different guy.
I tell you, these people that hate on Joe should consider themselves lucky that he retired and is not a member of this tourny. Old Calslappy would be proving to ya'll once again why he has an undefeated record by cruising through this thing putting L's on the records of all the guys in it.

explain how it takes a hit? Cal clearly beat Kess an even hurt him w/a body shot.
Ward clearly won, but head butted him twice and clinched excessivly.......he won great. He's a gold medal olympian......in his prime...
..Guess what Kessler will be regarded as one of Wards best wins.....
Yet another attempt to disparage Joe C. Shame on you. go jerkoff pacquiao
Umm.. there's no reason I can't jerk off Pacquiao while at the same time exploring the particulars of Calzaghe's legacy!
I always thought Kessler was Calzaghe's best win, and it was a clean good win with no excuses. Now it seems Kessler is overrated and that is a big blow to Calzaghe's record.
Yeah, sure. You're only as good as the opposition you've faced and it seems Kessler is not as good as we thought he might've been.
However it's all situational so it's not the end of the world or anything.

And, as noted earlier, if this is the start of a great, HOF run for Ward, why would it in the long run? What if at the end of this Ward is the only guy who beats Kessler?
That's why Super Six rocks...this is just the start of the whole thing.
i'm sure you wish that was true so you don't look so foolish for saying calzaghe is an all time great. too late it's on paper! hahahahaha laugh you off the internet.
Whatever you know your poll sucks. Does Kessler's loss to Ward hurt Calzaghe's legacy? A simple yes or no would do.
No Dude.. You suck. We live in something called the real world. In the real world not everything is yes & no, black or white. As such, you'll notice the bottom two poll options are almost even. The reason? Because some people think Kessler's loss only hurts Calzaghe's resume a little. Hence the poll option. So, instead of disparaging others when you fail, admit you failed. People will forgive you and move on.

kessler's loss wouldn't effect calz so much if he would've fought better opponents.
no i think kesslers loss to ward makes calzaghe's legacy even better! his legacy is that he's an overhyped bum who fought nobodies and old men right?
Exactly hehehehe he's not a bum but he's certainly very overrated. He was a continental level fighter that BARELY got lucky vs the great Roy and Hopkins when they were 40 year olds. He's more on Kessler's level than Ward is. I think Ward is better than anyone else cept perhaps Abraham which i didn't quite decipher yet. That will be a good fight.
You Win!!!
I think one thing that was proven, and it's just IMO.. If you can disrupt Kessler's rhthym, he becomes extremely mechanical and fairly awkward/cumbersome. He may actually matchup well stylistically with the other top dog in the tourney Arthur Abraham, because Abraham provides a relatively stationary target. He doesn't really utilize agility or major movement. This is what's exciting about the tourney!

You're absolutely right they would say that but now what? You better believe they won't hold it against him which we all know is wrong. Calz is good, but it doesn't mean much that he beat two old greats. As far as I'm concerned, Calz is in the same boat as Marciano, good fighters but way overrated.

I think if that happens, it might increase Calzaghe's resume's credibility.
Calzaghe could only beat the best in his division -which he did. At that time Kessler was a double champion and unbeaten. You could argue he's not been the same fighter since Calzaghe dominated him.
losing 4 or 5 rounds is dominating? ward dominated him. calzaghe squeeked by.
