Why couldn't Pac cut off the ring???

Pac was winning the fight so it didn't matter. Cotto couldn't win doing what he was doing. The only way Cotto could win at that point was to go at Manny. Why waste energy trying to chase someone that doesn't want to be caught? But I can understand asking on some level: If that was Dempsey, Tyson, Duran, etc....what would they have done?

That does not bode well against PBF. floyd can't win by running in vegas, vegas prefers aggression.

Once Miguel got on his bike why in the hell did Pac chase him around instead of cutting off the ring? Wraps or not, once Tony had Cotto hurt it took him maybe about half a round to finish; he knows how to close off your exits and finish an opponent that's constantly backing up. Miguel ran, but this fight should have been in the books by the 7th round. If Manny's footwork and ring generalship isn't corrected by the Mayweather fight, he's going to lose. when someone is determined to run, more than likely he will be successful. cotto ran from margo, but margo was willing to take 4-5 punches to the face to land 1 punch, pac wasn't willing to do that.

either hes heavy carrying that weight what with all the eating he did during the training or he really showed mercy, he was was waiting for the ref to stop the fight, he looked at bayless as if asking "what are you waiting for brotha, want me to kill this guy? or you bet your house on decision?"

It was more merciful to continue the beating, instead of ko'ing him? Yeah Okay. Let me guess, Pac also let Cotto punch him during the whole fight so that Cotto wouldnt feel embarrassed, right?

Cotto was basically done from the 7th round on, but Manny showed compassion. It was unnecessary. Everyone knew Cotto was gassed and fighting on fumes. Knocking him out cold would've looked better, but it was unnecessary. Maybe Cotto's face was all the more telling.

That's definitely true, the thing is I think that if Margarito can close the door on Miguel, Manny should have been able to as well. Buboy and Roach were giving him hell for it. thats margaritos main thing though, its his main skill relentless pressure, maybe even pac just got a bit excitable and this lead to him chasing, one thing that santiago and don miguel commented on in 24/7 was that pac gets a bit reckless and overly excited once he has hurt someone

Pac's corner was actually telling him the same thing. Buboy told him to basically not follow him around the ring and just chase him in one direction (meaning to cut him off from going around). Don't know why Pac didn't do it, I guess he tried but Cotto was just too quick in getting away. That does not bode well against PBF.

You learn (at least I did) very early not to chase, you use footwork to cut of the ring so your opponent can't run. I remember Buboy and Roach screaming at Pac for not doing that. Hopefully they can correct it. yes but im guessing you never tried this out against a fighter of cottos level .... its not always possible or that easy

I agree, and this is my main concern with PAC. I know for sure, Roach goes over this sh*t with him, but to this day, he still has not figured it out. Also, PAC also does alot of pivots now. But, he also gets turned quite often(especially by JMM) when his opponents give him angles as well. But, I also think that in the Cotto fight and his rematch against MAB, it was PAC's way of showing mercy, I seriously think that. I think Pac was showing mercy, but I think he really does have trouble cutting off the ring. In both Marquez fights, Manny was chasing him around the ring and running into punches. It seems like Pac has improved on all his weaknesses except for cutting off the ring. He will definitely need to if he fights Mayweather.
