It is odd that Duran didnt even mention Salvador Sanchez who beat Gomez. IMHO Sanchez was on his way to being possibly being the greatest mexican fighter and maybe the greatest latin fighter. But I look at the people Monzon destroyed as Griffith,Napoles, Benvenutti, and Valdez twice. His 14 defenses and his 87-3-9 record, and he no losses in his last 77 or 78 fights, WOW, he is my pick although he wasent a good person as he killed his wife and beat women.

In fairness, he did also say he couldnt talk about fighters before his time as Kid gavilan and Kid CHocolate when asked. Interesting, he didnt mention Jose Napoles or Carlos Monzon. It is big debate about who is the greatest latin fighter? Notice no talk about DLH? LOL

He said that the qualities Roberto Duran had as a fighter was that he was Strong, Punched Hard, and was Intelligent in the ring. He then goes on to say that the only reason why Roberto Duran ever lost was because of his own faults. He fought at too high a weight class or he was drained. Even though he was fighting bigger fighters, they'd beat him but they never hurt him.

Watching Duran in his old fights and seeing him now is :rofl:. He looks so different.
