The greatest trick Manny has played on us is that he has convinced everyone that he is small. What we forget is that he made 112 back when he was 15 or 16 and was a malnourished street kid. He isn't that anymore he has grown into the body of a small welter ala Zab Judah or Miguel Cotto.
I agree with Nasim here because and this not just for Manny but all fighters. I am sorry if you weigh in at whatever weight and by fight night you have put on 10-15+ pounds that to me means you really need to be fighting at a different weight IMO. Manny did do this he has weighed in for fights at 130 and came in to the ring 142+ and at 135 came into the ring I believe at 145 or 148 not sure which.
While I not being a big Pacman fan has to give him his due. I have to admit it is hard for me to think of him as a great fighter when I see flaws that should be exposed. But something has to be said for a man with easily seen flaws but no one so far can do anything about those flaws so he has to get my respect in that aspect. The dude can fight!!!!
If the PBF fight gets made willing to bet all of my points on PBF!!!!!
you seem to be compensating by throwing insults. and no, 3000 calories for someone manny's size is around the optimum intake. obviously it might differ for an athlete.
You need to be warned about what you're dealing with.

Michael Phelps consumes 12000 calories and still has a hard time maintaining weight. 8000 is about right. Boxing is not the same as bodybuilding.
This is also what I'm thinking and I was about to post it. Same brain wave length? :)
Yeah bodybuilding is far more different than boxing.
Manny is doing what a lot of fighters can't really do, which is, fight at his natural weight.
90% of fighters, maybe more, fight at a weight where they have to eat less and dehydrate to make their fighting weight. Pacquiao did that before, but has now found out that he can remain among the elite at his natural weight.
Fight night weight is usually a boxer's natural weight. Not many fighters can be competitive there.
you sound like a liar athrun. if you're 5'8 165, you wouldn't need to lose weight. 4000 calories and above is beyond needed for bulking at that size. but again, you wouldn't be losing weight if you were 5'8 165.
umm im trying to cut down my bodyfat percentage?

are you serious? 3000 calories is maintenance. Im cutting weight and Im eating 2000 calories which is pretty low. When Im bulking, im eating around 4000-4500 calories and my physical activity is nowhere near Manny Pacquiao's. Eat, sleep, study, workout for 1 1/2 hours, repeat. Now imagine Pacquiao who works out 4 hours straight nonstop (run, plyometrics, bodyweight exercises, sparring). 8000 calories seem about right to me.
you ever work out and maintain a high calorie diet? the suitable calorie intake for mass/strength training is 3000 calories. it's very unlikely for someone to remain 142 pounds while consuming 8000 calories a day. that's more than double the optimum calorie intake for bodybuilders. not to mention, sometimes eating 3000 calories a day you have to set specific times to work out or you may feel like throwing up during exercise. 8000 calories a day and pac would be a couch potato, probably wouldn't be able train properly.
With all due respect, pls. don't compare bodybuilding with training for a prize fight. Two totally different training methods which produce different caloric deficits.
I agree with Nasim, pac was huge for a FW.

i don't know i saw manny fight in the lower weights, and he looked smaller or equal in size to barrera and morales....definitely was shorter than morales...
even manny knows he has flaws, thats y he's always learning and a student of the game.. he even said himself he's not that good lol, which I find funny
Never said PBF didn't have flaws but the difference is many of the ATG greats flaws were not so obvious. The point I really was trying to make in agreeing with Nasim is that Manny starting at 106 should really be thrown out of the window. Its not like he started at 106 when he was 20 something yrs old. He was boy then and he is a man now. LOL at some of yall assuming I thought or felt that recognized ATG's didn't have flaws. Miss me with that one!!
WTF happened to all my points? I was gone for a really long time come back damn near all of my points are missing!!!!!!!:feedback:
Put your points in the bank and you shouldn't have that problem. It takes about 10 seconds to do.

A lot of people don't agree with me but it seems like you do. I feel like Pacquiao was always the bigger man until he went to 135. I think he had issues with his weight at times and thats why he had some lackluster performances like vs Lario and Barrera 2. Nazim also said that people calling Pacquiao small welterweight is the same as calling Mike Tyson a small heavyweight.
Naz said Cotto is small. :lol1:
Miguel Cotto ain't no small welter. Pacquiao just TKO'd a large welter. All the big welters are pushing 160 or over on fight night. The small welters are 147 - mid 150's.
ATG also have ATG accomplishments... its not just about technical skills
You are 100% correct. I didn't say he wasn't a ATG. I just said its hard for me to think of him as one.
