He fought until the bitter end, even when his corner asked him if he wanted to continue. When Nacho asked Oscar, he quit. Props to Manny. He's an all time great fighter, and there's no shame in losing to him. Cotto came out in good shape and prepared. Manny was just too much. I know Miguel will be back. Much respect to both. WAR COTTO!!!!
God I am starting to hate this mentality.
So there can only be one "elite" fighter in the entire world now?
Just because he lost to one of the greatest fighters of the past 30 years doesn't make him "not elite".
h never was elite, he was overrated.
Cotto is done as an elite.

I have respect for Cotto and I think he's a good fighter, but by no means would I call what he did against Pacquiao "fighting til the bitter end". No, he didn't take a knee and quit, or call it quits in the corner, but he had no intention of even trying to win that fight through the last third of the fight. Few if any flurries to try to even catch Manny with a "lucky" power shot that could possibly score a knockdown, and basically going from corner to corner, throwing a jab or two and moving away again. Even in the rare instances where he DID connect with a significant power punch that stunned Manny, he still moved away rather than attempting to capitalize it. He was still pretty light on his feet and was moving swiftly, so it's not like he was gassed and incapable of mounting any sort of attack.
I'm not criticizing him because I know the situation was dire and being in the ring against Pacman is not exactly easy... But I do think he could/should have attempted to do more to pull an unlikely victory from the jaws of defeat, and had he made that attempt (regardless of its success) I would give him props for his "great courage and heart" that some people are talking about.
Who are you kidding? Cotto may have stayed on his feet but he bailed out of that fight mentally in the 6th round.
He shouldve just gone down and saved himself the beating.
Haters will be haters, you have these idiots coming here criticizing Cotto for finishing the fight, this idiot said he should have gone down. LOL. I guess when you was in school the bullies must have taken your lunch money every day, b/c you probably went down to save yourself from a beating. they would have loved for Cotto to quit the fight so they could have something to criticize. Pac fans came on the forum and gave props to Cotto for going all the way and being a true champion. These are not boxing fans, these are nuthuggers of someone that Cotto probably beat, like SSM, or nuthuggers of a cheater like Marg that his biggest victory, against Cotto, is now tainted for being a cheater, and they are still butt hurt and can not get over it. Go cry some where else and get over it.:bottle:
laugh at me, I will more laugh watching hatton vs pacquiao
more laugh! hahaha, i was aswell seen as tho i won 45 notes. But laughin at the cotto stans is priceless
Haters will always do their jobs..its all they know.
Just look at pullcunters:thumbsdow stats and you will see what I mean.
bwahahahah!!!
I give cotto lots of praise. you guys just ignore it.
with respect to the previous post..
hes still has it to be elite..
just dump the current camp and get a better team behind him.
a quitter is someone who after what happened with the margarito fight , will not go back in the ring again..just saying. hes no quitter.
I agree with impervious, maybe quitter is too harsh, but he wasn't going out on his shield, that's for sure. He ran most of time at the end, and was just looking to finish the fight on his feet, and avoid anymore KD or even a KO.
