Dominated the first round and would've beaten Pacquiao if he didnt come out too aggressive inthe second and third rounds allowing himself to get hit? not to take anything away from MAnny who deserves all the credit this time, but just a simple question/thought?
Look no reason to cry over spoiled milk. That round was just to test the waters. Round 4 served as a real measuring stick, to what both fighters could bring that night.
I expected Cotto to win, I bet money on it. I was wrong, Manny has this gift in throwing bombs in between steps. Conventional boxers simply do not expect to be hit so hard and fast on their blind spots.
totally agree. pac hits guys coming in with speed shots that others don't anticipate. he does so by taking measured steps backward and then exploding on his unsuspecting opponent. on the second knockdown of cotto, miguel threw a left hook and was set to throw a right. but manny stepped back from that hook and came forward with a right and then left uppercut before cotto's right could even come forward. amazing speed by pacman. :smileysex

even if cotto started running from round #1, he still would've lost... just look at the punch stats for rounds 7-12... all lopsided for pac.
Of course it was lopsided the guy had nothing to respond with, he got gassed by all the punches he took brawling with Manny in the first half which cost two knockdowns almost three which he never recovered. By then switching up to boxing was too little too late the fight should been stopped in the 8th or 9th. That's I always said chasing and brawling with Manny was stupid. It was just better to box a little and counter he probably still would of lost but it wouldn't be as bad as the pounding he took. He fought Manny's fight.

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face......by MANNY PACQUIAO. :boxing:
Ask JMM, EM, MAB, DD, ODLH, RH, and now Cotto.
Look, I picked Cotto to win and he was until he got buzzed by Manny and got knocked down. That was it. Plans out the window. Manny's power and speed is a definite game changer. Just amazing.
So remember,
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face......by MANNY PACQUIAO. :boxing:
Cotto definitely changed the initial plan and switched to exchange with Manny. That was a bad idea. He needed to box and not lower his guard. He was landing that jab beautifully. I mean, maybe he got caught up in the moment, but he payed for it dearly. I think if he kept distance and just stuck to boxing, he could have outboxed him.
To those saying that Manny was going to win anyway no matter what Cotto did, get a clue. That sounds very fanboy-like. It was a winnable fight for Cotto, but Manny imposed himself that night and stuck to his plan. Neither of them are invincible.
Your right and that's exactly what Roach meant about Cotto's habits. Cotto got to Comfortable and thought he can overpower Manny and he payed for it. He should of kept doing what he did in round 1 but shit happens when underestimate your opponent, Another thing Floyd is a natural defensive counter puncher so I can see him giving Manny problems. But I wouldn't count Manny out the guy is a beast.
wrong... in evangelista's interview he said that cotto getting aggressive in the 2nd round is cotto's M.O.
Face it Pull Counter nobody is gonna waste time with you. Except me if I'm bored.
Cotto was doing good Countering and jabbing in the first then all of a sudden he got too comfortable and started brawling which cost him the fight. Countering and boxing Manny would've helped him go the distance without taking much damage. As soon as he started Brawling I knew it was gonna be a problem. He fought a dumb fight.

Dominated? Nah... it was a feelin out round.
If I remembered the stats correctly both only landed around 12 shots each. Manny landed 6 power shots, Cotto only 4. I gave it to Cotto though because he looked more accurate with that snappy jab.
Cotto couldn't see where the punches are coming from
at one time he's hitting Manny some good jabs then the next time he's on the canvass collecting himself
Pac's punches really damages whether on full impact or graze
What a lot of people don't get is that Pacquiao after the first round managed to take away Cotto's weapons. It wasn't like Cotto just switched off after the first.

Nah, Cotto couldn't match the speed or aggression, he would've gotten broken down eventually. He's still a warrior for finishing the fight but he was outclassed.
Manny beat his butt fair and dominating.
Different fighters, different styles. It's what separated Marquez from Cotto, Diaz, DLH, and Hatton...
then why did you pick cotto to win?
It was just a damn thought you haters. In my opinion, i'm not saying he completely dominated pac, but to me he dominated in the sense that he made pac miss, he popped a good jab to snap his head back, and he was moving in a circle around him. Pacquiao's punches in the first round weren't nearly as effective as cotto's, IMO. I just think that immediately in the second round Cotto got way too confident and tried to jump on Pac and that's when everything went all to hell. Im not saying he would've destroyed him or anything, or that he would have won, im just asking, "Who else here thinks Cotto dominated the first round?" If you don't, then don't say anything. Problem solved. Dont get mad.
Wooo! Cotto won a round! Let's make a thread!

Cotto never dominated anything. Even in the first round, he never had it.
He got whooped, dominated and humilatited.
Get over it.
Getting beat by the P4P #1 fighter in the world is far from being humilated
you fail!
Pull your hate is dripping all over boxingscene, stop hanging out in the middle os two fighters until the fight is done then jump on the bandwagon.
You said Cotto is Bigger and should dominate, then say if Pac wins Cotto sucks.
Your a bandwagon jumper. At least the Cotto fans stood by the fighter they were a bigger fan to.
CORRECTION:
My prediction was the same as mangler's as we are both geniuses.... if cotto doesn't stop the fight by the 6th round, cotto gets massacred.
