I give Pac all the credit in the world, however, as a Cotto fan, last night was a combination of admiring Pac Man's astonishing skills, but leaving dissapointed that I didn't see Manny vs. the TRUE Cotto. Before everyone starts throwing darts at me for using those dreaded words (wait for it, here it comes), am I alone in the belief Cotto was weight drained? Not to the extent of DLH, but I have eyes, and he looked weak on the last episode of 24/7, as well as the weigh in. I think once a physically and mentally damaged Cotto enters the ring with a man who is on FIRE like Pac, and feels the blitz, he is served up on a silver platter. I kept saying to my friend next to me, "Once the gameplan is out the window, just FIGHT the bastard. You're the bigger man!" I mean backpedaling for the last 4 rounds? Pacquiao clapping his gloves together and inviting COTTO to swing away? Cotto's punches having ZERO zip? Anyone else feel this was way out of sorts? Again, I'm not making excuses, Pac deserved the win, but I'm just saying......
P.S. Was HBO implying anything w/ the Pac Man progression in weight and physique?
U just made an excuse. Remember, he trained way b4 pac did, he was in great shape! He only needed to shed 1 lb as he came in at 146 for clottey. It doesnt make much of a difference.
Cotto also didn't have to contend with typhoons in training camp.
cotto was in great condition, he was moving 'til late. he just didn't know how to move, or be agressive in an efficient way. He didn't have the right advice not to mention the right trainer
i was surprised too, Cotto did NOT look like Cotto..But pacquiao was great, i was sad for cotto because i like both fighters so much
I'm torn
cotto was fine and is in is prime, cotto just got his ass beat and that the bottom line get over it. i am i was going for cotto, and he just dont know how to moves his feet
He wasn't weight drained or past it - you can see that off his performance in the first 4 or 5 rounds. That huge bomb that Pacquiao landed to put him down the second time was the beginning of the end though - it was the type of punch that would have left a Hatton comatose for several weeks. Fair play to Cotto, he got up, but he looked dazed and shakey from that point onwards.
I agree. Cotto looked great in the first round and took the punches well in the second. He got dropped by a punch he didn't see in the third but came back and won the rest of the round convincingly. He controlled the fourth up until he got hurt by the left and he never recovered from that punch. Even in the fifth when he was trying to be aggressive you could see him falling over on himself and lunging in off balance. Cotto was essentially finished after that.

How the f*ck did he look drained? He was pumping away like normal. He was the exact same as the clottey and margarito fights. He couldn't handle the speed and got slowly overwhelmed.

i was wavering back and forth about placing real money on cotto, b/c the odds were 2.5 to 1.....
my cousin called me up, and said don't do it. he said he saw the last episode of 24/7, and cotto was "drained."
not making excuses, because manny's the better fighter, but my cousin did point out the same thing you did....
manny's a ****in monster tho.
