And the reason I ask this is because Hopkins, Mayweather, and Mosley haven't fought as often as he has. If he beats Sergio Martinez, he should be #2. Mosley should be automatically ranked underneath him for three reasons. #1, he blatantly turned him down. #2, Williams beat his conquereror (Even if it's a more faded version). #3, Sergio Martinez is a better and more proven fighter than Berto. And Williams already beat Margarito before Mosley got to him. Hopkins and Mosley have done nothing but hold their spots hostage. Bernard keeps making opponents move up in weight. Mosley has done jack shit since his win over Margarito when Williams will have fought two times since Mosley fought and three times since Hopkins fought. If these guys belong in the top five, then so does Paul Williams.
Williams blasted out Quintana systematically as well rather than with one punch. I've got no idea how Williams lost to him. Lol. I'm a Cotto detractor, but Cotto really impressed me with the way he beat Quintana in a close fight. If Quintana was total garbage than he wouldn't have beaten Williams like he did in the first fight. Do any Cotto fans want to defend their boy and say that the Cotto from the Quintana fight may have beaten Pac? :dunno:
well I might agree if we were talking about some young cat but you cant act like Hopkins & Shane aint put in there work in this game. You know that at there age they are not going to be fighting 4 times a year. They are looking for big money super fights right now so most likely it will always be once or twice that they fight.
Paul Williams also wouldn't have struggled with Mayorga either. That would've been a one-sided fight. I take talent and activity into consideration. I'm not saying Mosley isn't talented, he is just inconsistent at times. Williams always puts stamps on his wins on top of beating every guy he's faced. He won the last round against Margarito when he was Williams was supposedly a green fighter. Bernard Hopkins had a close fight with Winky Wright even though he won and then went on to lose to Calzaghe.
Martinez had his last fight scheduled at 157-158 so the weight advantage that Paul Williams may have in this fight is not going to be as great as the one for Floyd-JMM. I just don't think that inactivity should be rewarded. I'm sorry. Like I said, even if you are not thrilled with the comp that Williams has been fighting lately he fought four times last year and would've only had a 4 1/2 month rest period between his fight with Winky and what was supposed to be Pavlik if he drunk ass didn't get a yeast infection. P4P is just people's opinions though just like someone else mentioned. But Williams should at least be in the top 5.

Iceta, you cant act like everyone didnt just recently see him got easily owned over 12 rounds by an average fighter. Thats why he's not up there. That shit dont go away. No other guy up there has a recent L even close to that. We would roast the top guys if they had an L like that. Also, you say he beat the Mosley conquer but that guy was off for 2 years just like Floyd so how can you take credit away from Floyd for stuff but act like Williams should get a ton for that win. Mosley also killed Margarito while Williams had to hold on and barely win probably by the final round. He will probably definatly move up if he beats Martinez but I for one, think that he could lose and if he wins then its not that special. Im like the only guy on here who thinks Martinez sucks. His fight with Cintron was awful. Both guys looked horrible and he wants to make the fight at MW instead of 154. You know, the same thing you again ripped Floyd for. Then I think you are making far too big of a deal about inactivity. You act like Mosley & Hopkins have been off forever. It just seems that way. Its really not that long and both guys already have big matches lined up just like Williams does so I dont think he can past them right now

'Cause many considers him a midger-beater.
He hasn't really fought anyone that's a big threat to him yet, aside maybe from Margarito.
At least he's winning against these so-called smaller guys unlike cough, cough Cotto.
But the whole point I'm trying to make is he's been a lot more busy in the ring than say for example Mosley and Hopkins. Even if you don't think too highly of his current run, he fought four times last year and Pavlik is to blame for there being a big window of inactivity by him since the last time he beat Winky.
If williams beats Matinez his stock goes way up. I think Martinez is more credible than Pavlik to be honest. Sergio is a tougher fight. If Williams wins convincingly he can no longer be ignored. As for Pavlik, he has no credibility as far as I'm concerned.
If Williams cleaned out 154 he would have a solid case for #2 and maybe even #1 after Pacquiao retires. The winner of the super six tournament would have a good case for the top five as well.
people aren' gonna line up for pwill afer he beats martinez unless he sells out and gets good ratings. With the soft fighters I doubt he ever gets the recognition he deserves
Iceta, p4p is all about who you think would be the best if the best across all weightclasses could be scaled to the same size while retaining the attributes that made them successful.......not about who avoided who, you can't be proven better than someone else in a mythical tourney in your mind because others didn't fight you for whatever reason.....but p4p is all completely subjective
I agree with your post somewhat, but not only talent plays a factor. So does body of work as well. I mentioned the fact that Mosley turned Williams down, and that is part of why I think he should be ranked underneath Williams. But also the fact that Williams had already beaten Margarito and then in turn beat Winky (even if he was a little faded and rusty) more impressively than Shane did. But Mosley beat Margarito more decisively than Williams did, so I guess it can even out.

Not sayin Pwill ain't quality, just that he it ain't worth arguin his placement in the top 10. Frankly nobody's is worth arguin. The shit's imaginary anyways homey.
Cuz he ain't accomplished much yet.
