I'm not saying that Mayweather should be ranked as high as he is. I'm just saying that there are some things you can find wrong with Cotto's resume. Like for example, I view victories over Collazo and Mayorga ten times better than wins over Alfonzo Gomez and Michael Jennings. And Mosley's win over Margarito kind of erases the tarnish of his resume by losing to Cotto in a close fight. And the fact that Cotto has a loss to Margarito and didn't really beat Clottey and Mosley that decisively makes it awfully hard for me to make him P4P #1.
There are holes in many top fighter resumes. But Cotto is constantly fighting fair, dangerous and fighters from his own weight classes. He's been ruling the division for a long time now, but he doesn't get the credit he deserves because of show fighters that put on a show, but don't beat the best. Cotto and Manny are the very best fighters now.
Beating a smaller guy moving up in weight wont make you P4P #1, but he should be 2nd or 3rd if he does win.
If Vitali beats Pacman, is he P4P #1? Since he beat the P4P king?
Well, if hatton has his wish that's the way it will be. Then hatton will get smeared by Cotto.
Here's the top p4p fighters in order as of NOV 2009
1. Manny Pacquiao (140)
2. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (147)
3. Joe Calzaghe (175)
4. Shane Mosley (147)
5. Paul Williams (154)
6. Juan Manuel Marquez (135)
7. Bernard Hopkins (175)
8. Israel Vazquez (122)
9. Miguel Cotto (147)
10. Rafael Marquez (126)
11. Arthur Abraham (168)
12. Chad Dawson (175)
13. Ivan Calderon (108)
14. Juan Manuel Lopez (122)
15. Nonito Donaire (115)
obviously it's wrong considering they have mosley who lost to Cotto ahead of him and many other sites have it the same way. If Cotto beats the packman and he will, he's p4p #1 IMO, Mayfag can fight Cotto if he has any issues about it. That's the ONLY way to settle boxing issues..."IN THE RING."...:boxing::boxing:
Plese tell me who's that fighter that you favor that has beaten an elite?
Mayweather ? Hopkins? Mosley? Cotto has fought the most dangerous fighters.
Fighters that others avoided just to stay in that number 1 or 2 spot. fighting the most dangerous fighters is means more than fighting Juan Manuel Maruez who was ranked around #3 and fighting him out off his best weight division.

Cotto has never once fought one of his elite opponents at the time that they were either #1 and #2 in a division. That's why he gets criticized for winning vacant titles.

And WHO has he beaten for a belt??
Who have others beaten for their belts? Cotto shouldn't have lost it in the first place. He still beat Mosley, C. Quintana, & Clottey. While Mayweather wouldn't fight any of those three and more.

Thats means he holds wins over the current p4p #1 and p4p #3.
no, he's not.... he's what three fights removed from a loss (in which he QUIT)? thats not redemption enough yet, considering one of them was michael freaking jennings...
he'll need at least 2 more good wins if he beats pac to be p4p #1 IMO
yeah right
Thats means he holds wins over the current p4p #1 and p4p #3.
that doesn't mean squat if he beats manny pacquiao, he's number 3 because floyd mayweather jr is numero uno and paul williams is numero dose!
And WHO has he beaten for a belt??
What would a belt have to do with P4P rankings? I am at a loss here. It is all about your talent and who you beat.
I mean I hold these P4P rankings stuff with a grain of salt, but I still cannot see how winning a belt has to do with it. It is how good you are as far as I can tell.
And WHO has he beaten for a belt??
lol that's when you know you are full of shit and a hater.
it doesn't matter who he beat for a belt as long as he's beating the best.. gtfo of here.
Thats means he holds wins over the current p4p #1 and p4p #3.
I think he'd have a hell of a case given his overall quality of comp the last few years. Who cares who he beat for belts? Who did he FIGHT. Cotto's quality of opp is Oscar-level.
