I've faced the best pound-for-pound fighters in Floyd Mayweather and Pacquiao, so I've never shied away from a challenge.
"If Cotto becomes the pound-for-pound king, I don't see any reason why we couldn't fight."

NAH.... You have to EARN your way back up Ricky... You have to DO SOMETHING to earn that fight.
exactly reed...he might get ko of the year for '09 and if cotto beats pac then hatton might be able to ko of the year for 2010
LOL Hatton wants to fight the best and you're all slagging him off!
You're all a bunch of cunts, not boxing fans. Respect to Hatton.
It's not that, it's the fact he thinks he can just waltz back into the sport and face someone who will be considered one of the top p4p fighters if he wins. Whichever way you look at it, losses set you back. There's major questions about Ricky's ability these days and he needs to earn a shot at the best fighters by proving he will offer up a good fight.
He talks about challenges as if there's no one out there who is not p4p ranked that would be any sort of challenge to him. You've got Bradley, Peterson and Nate Campbell in the same division, all of which would be a difficult fight for Ricky, but a fight which will prove whether Ricky has anything left in the tank.
Of course he won't fight any of them because of high risk/low reward.
When will Hatton understand that beating the p4p #1 dosen't automatically make you number one? First it was "I will challenge for the p4p belt, bet your house" now it is "I will fight Cotto if he beats Pac and becomes knew p4p king"
Is he really stupid or what is the problem? Dosen´t he get how it works? He comes across as mildly retarded which is sad to say cause he seems like an okey guy otherwise.
i'd rather see marquez-hatton, excellent fight at the stage in their careers they're at. makes much more sense and makes for a more interesting fight.
I completely agree with you. Marquez-Hatton is a perfect fight. Cotto on the other hand, not only does Hatton have to earn this fight. But he would get knocked right out.

He could beat some top 140 pounder like malignaggi. Truth be told Hatton is underrated, he straight sonned Paullie.
i mean i am behind you that Cotto would whoop Hattons ass, maybe not in 2 rounds but within 5. But triangles do not always work in boxing.
I mean Hearns knockout Duran
Duran went 15 with Hagler
Hagler Knockeout Hearns.
Jermain Beat (robbed) Bernard HOpkins
Pavlik Knocked out Jermain
Hopkins Spanked Pavlik
Much more succinct than I could have explained it. This is why I think hatton's frigging retarded.
Oh, and to those who get their panties bunched about 'slagging' hatton need to clear their minds and see things for what they are. hatton has NEVER wanted to face top competition unless there was some angle he could exploit to increase his chances of winning. The p4p thing is his holy grail, but he cannot attain it...ever. His showing against Mayweather looked boring until he got knocked out by a turn buckle, courtesy of a check hook. His showing against Manny was abysmal. Excuses abound. Now he thinks that he is going to take a fight to Cotto...but ONLY if Cotto is the victor and, by his words, 'the Pound for Pound King'?
Cotto is my favorite fighter and even *I* don't think he will get p4p king if he beats Pacquiao. Just because hatton thinks it works that way does not make it so. He is pulling a fox news, george bush election 'victory' stunt (or trying to do so).
The **** is he smoking?
So if Cotto beats the man that nearly killed him.
Hatton wants to fight him?
Ricky, retire before your brain becomes any more damaged.

At this point if hatton WERE to somehow, MIRACULOUSLY, wrest(le) a victory from a p4p champion, I would only be able to stomach calling him the p4p luckiest.
Dismissing as luck the hit that floored him while hoping for that same luck to deliver him unto the promised land is deplorable. We have another Ruiz in the making, no?
So he wants to fight the guy who beat the guy that beat him?:spankme:
Yeah, because in his warped view this will vindicate the defeat. He STILL thinks that he has what it takes to be p4p best. Not so and it ain't as easy as defeating the current mythical title-holder. If his resume were comparable, maybe. hatton insinuates with the words 'when I was caught' that Pacquiao's punch was a lucky one. Whether it was or not, going down two times in the FIRST ROUND defeats this rationale. He kept his hands low, lead with his ugly mug and tried to wrestle the entire time, but Pacquiao was far too fast for hatton.
Now hatton seems to be entertaining the myopia of his boxing 'skills' as though he were a hard luck case. He is banking on luck (without acknowledging it) hoping to land that p4p accolade and probably seriously thinks he is in contention because 'Manny told me I hurt him' and 'I know he's not that much better than me.' Yeah, being poleaxed must have done more harm to his head than originally thought.
I think JMM would be the best career move for Hatton just now .Hatton Cotto at a catchweight tho has me more excited than JMM .I think Cotto would probably stop Hatton tho .Even a prime Hatton at a catchweight Cotto would probably be to big .At 140 tho i'd give Hatton a decent chance.
Funny tae i'v just watched a bit of Cotto Judah .N-Dou Malignaggi on that card as well .Lovemore N-Dou - Matthew Hatton tonight.
