I haven't... but as a boxing fanatic I would like to, I can imagine not having distractions around u while concentrating on a big fight. People around also plays a part of ur judgement of the fight, whether boring or exciting. I'm either getting the ppv and having people over cuz they ask if I'm getting it.. or I'm invited to one... damn..

Waste of money, imo.
Yeah, I watch most of them alone. They start at 4AM over here most of the time, so only the real dedicated fans can be arsed to watch them - which my mates are not (unless it's a real big one like Mayweather v Hatton or something)
I don't remember what happened, but I somehow ended up watching Cotto vs. Margarito by myself at the crib. The TV was on LOUD.
It was an epic fight and I didn't miss not having anybody around. It was cool being able to hear all the sounds coming from the ring. Some might disagree, but it was more dramatic not having to hear different conversations in the room (some not even about boxing) and just being able to hear the commentary and the celebrating on TV.
It was a memorable night. (But then January came and ruined it.)
I usually watch them on my own and much prefer it that way. Being british, when its a PPV with the headliner in the States like the Hatton nights we have a card on over here first before switching over to the US so its the complete late evening/early hours entertainment. I love watching all the undercards/interviews etc, and find it extremley irritating having to explain things/listen to drunking chatter etc when im trying to concerntrate. Sometimes my wife hangs around on the sofa, but she will always get tired/pissed with the lack of attention I'm giving her and go up to bed...Yep, a case of beer, nice curry, dark living room infront of my HD tv and I'm good to go.
I prefer watching by myself, although my wife always uses it as an opportunity to throw a party which ends up bringing over her friends husbands who act like they know boxing but don't really know shit. So I have to sit there and listen dummy 1 tell dummy 2 how a hook is really an upper cut or a jab is really a cross. I deal with it though and DVR the fight so I can watch it either late that night by myself or Sunday morning.
yessir... i watched cotto vs mosley by myself as well as lightweight lightning, which was a GREAT card....
its good either way, its nice with company but its nice not having anyone around too...
Co-sign. Only hardcore boxing fans will come over, but a lot of times the boxing friends I have are going somewhere else for the big fights. I'll order PPV all the time and stay home and watch intently, all by myself. Its actually better, no distractions. Its awful right after the fight, because you don't have anyone to discuss the fight with and go party with afterward.
Well you can always come in here and you'll find plenty of people to discuss it with....J/K...I hear you
I have watched several PPV events by myself, and I easily prefer it that way. Casual fans could care less about the undercard fights, the commentary, or the pre-fight interviews. It's great being able to catch every single thing, especially when you are paying $25-55 bucks for it. It's hard to watch a huge fight (with a fighter like Mayweather or Pacquiao) by yourself though. Everybody wants to come over and see fights like that...

Yes, plenty of times!I like it that way!A 12 pack of Tecate, my 42 inch plasma, all the lights off in my room, and some good home cooked meal.....hell's yeah!
I have a few times before. I actually enjoy watching big fights by myself. I can actually focus on the fight and listen to what is being said. I would rather hear that then people chatting the whole time Im watching the fight. I dont need a bunch of drunk friends yelling at the tv for me to enjoy myself.
Plenty. Most of my friends prefer other sports so, it was to big BIG fights for them to care. And my only friend who cares about the other fights lives an hour or so away, and the drive can get tiresome at times. I prefer it sometimes, actually.
Unless it's an informed mind I'm watching with, I don't wanna hear Johnny Casualfans take on why blocking with your face is a bad idea.
'Oh, really! You don't say!?!? I thought he was trying to break his fist with his forehead!'
