Cotto's punching power against Pacquaio's speed

We are now days away before these two fearless fighters,Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto finally meet in the ring. Is there really anyone who believes this fight will go to decision? The probability of this fight resulting in a stoppage seems extremely high. This mega fight card was properly named,"Firepower" which both Pacquiao and Cotto possess. Miguel Cotto is a true welterweight,many of Pacquaio's previous opponents have lacked the power he has. Cotto's impressive record speaks for itself 34-1. That one questionable loss coming from Antonio Margarito. Although he is not the same fighter,since suffering from that devastating loss. Miguel Cotto should not be underestimated. Cotto has many strengths he is a smart,skilled fighter who is a very heavy handed puncher. He is also very weak in many areas. In Cotto's last fight with Joshua Clottey,he showed he can be easily hit and lacks speed. Pacquiao will not hesitate to capitalize on every weakness Cotto has. Miguel Cotto must be ready to take punishment from Manny Pacquiao,who will use his overwhelming speed,and dish out relentless attacks. The same can be said for Pacquiao,who will get hit with forceful punches from a strong Cotto. Pacquaio has many advantages over Cotto,with his ability to cut off the ring and apply pressure. This will prove to be a problem for Cotto,who has difficulty when under pressure. Cotto must be ready to defend,against Pacquiao's power and blinding combinations. Miguel Cotto's defense has been dismal of late. Pacquaio seems to get better with every fight,in his last 5 fights he is 5-0. His stamina is ridiculous. This also is a huge advantage,because Cotto seems to look fatigued in later rounds.. Pacquaio's speed and exceptional footwork also has to be carefully looked at. Pacquaio will unleash solid strikes on Cotto,and get away before Cotto has an opportunity to retaliate. Pacquaio is much smaller which gives Cotto a huge advantage.. Cotto is an excellent counter puncher and Pacquaio's defense must be solid. Cotto's powerful punches if landed can inflict damage on Pacquiao. Can Cotto surprise the world,and upset the Filipino sensation,with the odds clearly stacked against him? Both fighters have a tremendous amount of heart. Cotto must man up to have a chance against Pacquaio. As seen in Cotto's previous fights he tends to run when under pressure. Pacquiao will not give him any breathing room,and will chase him. It is highly unlikely neither fighter will give up and quit. This will be a battle of who can outbox each other. If Cotto can neutralize Pacquiao's lightning speed and land key punches it is a strong possibility he could win. If Pacquiao can survive those tough punches from Cotto and land some ruthless combinations it is a strong possibility he could win. In my 8CountNews exclusive interviews with Joshua Clottey and Alfonso Gomez last month. The two opponents who faced Miguel Cotto gave me their predictions on this upcoming fight. Joshua Clottey: If Pacquaio can take all of Cotto's punches he will win. Alfonso Gomez: This fight is for Pacquiao to win. He is fast and strong. Pacquiao should win. No one can really predict what may happen in this fight. All we can do is continue to analyze the weakness and strengths of both fighters. It has to be said that the advantage is for Pacquaio speed,accuracy,stamina,and strength is a winning combination,but as i stated Cotto should never be underestimated. pac will give him combos for days, i doubt cotto is worried about pac power his key is timing if he can time and break up pacs combos/ in and out game he will win, im betting he wont pac by dec

hatton wasn't a welterweight either don't get too excited, but i think pac looks huge when walking around maybe 155-160 not positive but he can carry weight. sugar ray leonard was definitely not a middleweight but his speed neutralized peole pac makin the same jump

he knocked out Hatton the 140 champ in 2 rounds. That's a legit WW. The only reason you say this is to discredit Cotto's win over Pacman. You are already in denial that Cotto beat Mosley when Mosley himself admitted he lost and post-fight he contemplated retirement. UD don't lie. 1) 140 lbs is jr WW not WW. get your facts straight 2) pac is not a WW and is unproven at WW... that is fact 3) mosley beat cotto, check the sig... I got logic and stats to back me up 4) link where the words "I lost" came out of mosley's mouth????

pac was 106 YEARS AGO he also lost multiple times at that weight proving it was probably too light for him he looks very natural at this weight i think the fight will balance on exploiting weaknesses cotto does not block his body well, leaves a huge gap between his gloves, cuts frequently and has not had a decisive victory vs top class opponent in a while. Pac is reckless at times, the smaller opponent and is prone to knockdowns when he meets a fighter with good timing. we will see PAC BY DECISION hence "former" 106 lber.

There isn't a faster fighter in Welter Weight, thats whats makes Manny so unique. Plus Manny carries a good punch too. Cotto doesn't have reach advantage and isn't much taller like a Shane or Mayweather. He' s biggest attribute is his power, his condition is questionable. Don't you think that if Cotto can knock him out he will? Of course he's going for the K.O., but Manny is quicker than Judah and Mosley he's also harder to get because he's so small. But you can't hit what you can't touch, not to the point where he can hurt Pac. And if he can't get Pac it be a lot tougher at the end where Manny is still moving and Cottos not. Hasn't Cotto look bad at the second half of the fight vs Clottey, Mosley and Margarito? But if Cotto can have his hands on the mouse enough of times he'll eat him alive. But you can't blame Cotto if Manny doesn't get K.O., because Cotto will be trying. If Cotto gets PacThe only way he won't K.O. Pac if he's weak from losing weight or he doesn't have the strength at the end of the fight. cotto should be able to walk through pac's best shots to land his own which will be the hardest punches pac has ever felt. if cotto tries to be cute, he will gas and lose.

Im tellin ya'll...Cotto's power isn't going to be the thing that turns this fight in his favor more than his Boxing skills. We know Cotto's more powerful than Pacquiao, but power alone doesn't win fights...just like speed alone doesnt win fights. If you've been following Cotto for as long as I have, you should know by now Cotto bring a lot of tools to the ring and knows how to implement them according to the style he's facing. He doesn't get credit for his ring smarts. You could even see it in the Clottey fight. what? cotto would've lost that fight if clottey was more active.
