you said usually.he didn't look it in that fight.
I really don't see Cotto applying that kind of pressure as I don't think he has the footspeed to do it or the great punch resistance like Hagler to do something like that, nor may he have to since Pacquiao doesn't have the height and range advantage like Hearns did.
But I guess we'll have to wait and see as it's only a few days away.
pac ain't gonna stand toe to toe w/ cotto... that's stupid
pac will not have a choice in the matter.. at one or more points in the fight he will have to go toe to toe...:boxing:
I doubt it.
Hagler was usually a boxer and counter-puncher, but went with a balls-to-the-wall attack against Hearns because the taller and rangier Hearns was such a master-boxer from the outside.
I doubt Cotto is going to attack Pacquiao in that manner. He'll be more deliberate.you said usually.he didn't look it in that fight.
I can see some similarities with Cotto/Hagler, but comparing Pacquiao with Hearns?
There is no one I can compare with Hearns at 147. Williams had the height, but nowhere the destructive power of Hearns. Trinidad had the power, but was completely one dimensional and not nearly as effective from long range; more of a mid range kind of fighter.
forget about the height. cotto style is reminiscent to that of an orthodoxed hagler, and pac style implies similarities of an "unorthodox" version of hearns.
their bread and butter, was/is the jab and the straight hand. though I'm not trying to say cotto will beat pac(hearns hurt his hand, maybe the fight would have a different outcome if he hadn't).
:popcorn::popcorn:
just a reminder.

I think it could be a Hagler-Hearns type fight, but Manny Pacquiao is no Hearns. Two completely different styles.
Cotto is by far more similar to hagler's style than Pac is to hearns'.

I think if either guy gets hurt early, it will turn into this.
i don't give them a round to warm up.a minute and a half into the round, and the bombs are going off.
i think it will be like hagler hearns with cotto be hagler the coming forward fighter well pacman will try to move way but sooner or l8ter cotto will catch him and....
I agree, just look at the dynamics of the fight. Pac's speed and combinations could overwhelm Cotto and Cotto's power and bodywork could overwhelm Pacquiao, but most likely we'll see glimpses of both.
If Pacquiao wins, it's gonna be a historic year for him. He's probably gonna get KO of the Year, Fight of the Year (I don't care what anyone thinks, this will be fight of the year), and Fighter of the Year.
Pac can't slug wit Cotto. It won't be war, but it'll be excitin.
If Pac tried to slug Cotto like that, he would go KOed within three. Roach saying all this crap about Pac KOing Cotto is setting Cotto up for Pac to box.
that's how i see it turning out.i don't think pac will try to outbox him at all.the minute he gets hit he's letting his hands go.
