The light heavyweight division is a bit muddy. You have titlists and then the real names of the division. But who is the best light heavyweight in the world, right now?
Vote and discuss.
I'm impressed with the votes. I was expecting Dawson to be losing the votes because it seems that BSscene polls on here end up with posters choosing by heart but not by brain.
Chad Dawson is hands down the best LHW in the world.
I was surprised too. I would've thought it would be closer with BHop.
I don't know if you've been following the thread while you've been on your Hopkins hate-fest but I've been arguing that Dawson deserves to be ranked higher today. I won't pretend Bernard is some two-bit bum like you do but then again, objectivity isn't your strong suit when it comes to him.
yeah but you've been known to flip flop when it comes to me..lol
I tell you what, I can see what Steelhead was getting at because I was impressed with Pascal against Diacconu. Really glad I watched that fight and would also recommend it. He looked a lot better than he did against Froch, I think he's looked back on the Froch fight, realised he was in range too often and from training with him has become a real in out boxer. It was a great to watch.
However, Diacconu was plodding around a little it seemed, and the fight was still relatively close. So your right, if he'd improved that much why still such a close fight against this guy, when he's getting out of range more too? You hit the nail on the head, his all round game is not that of Dawson's so I agree Dawson would take this one cleanly. I'm intrigued as to a Taylor-Pascal match-up though as they're both sound technically, ok ish power and good speed.
But yes Dawson takes it clearly, I just still have Hops beating him, and the only one getting close Cloud but he should continue to clean up LHW really.
I'd have to watch the fight again, but at the end I remember Diaconu getting pretty close and I was thinking he was going to KO him.
When Pascal out boxes someone that has hand speed and is not one dimsensional, then let me know. He is a very talented fighter and very athletically gifted, but Dawson is on a whole different level than Diaconu. Lets not forget, that Pascal's fight against Froch was only a couple of months prior to the Diaconu fight. Did he become a master boxer in the matter of months? Or did he fight a slow plodder that only had a punchers chance?

i contend that most think of the dumb fight pascal fought against froch
when they think of ltwt belt holder pascal
i contend that pascal when he went up to ltheavy like blossumed into a new and improved mucho skilled boxer.
please watch the pascal/diaconu. please. this is not idle talk.
prove me wrong.
imo chad dawson is in new territory when he gets into the ring with pascal.
i go a step further and say i think cruiserwt diaconu who went down to lthvy to fight pascal, would beat dawson.
diaconu may be short but he's built like a buick! he's a beast.
because of this dawson/johnson rematch instead of a pascal/dawson
we now have to wait further.
and pascal i feel made a dangerous move fighting diaconu again in december.
hey since most here wasn't interested when pascal fought diaconu last time, you better get off your high horses and view this rematch. no foolin!
i think it will add more perspective to what dawson will have to contend with. and believe me dawson will not get away with that beatifull style he exibited against johnson with these guys.

oh you do? lol...
who has hopkins beat recently that supports that he can even last 12 rounds with dawson, given that dawson's last 3 fights have been against tough vets...please don't say pavlik or i'll lose all respect for you...

No, as of right now I don't think so.

Hopkins is the proven current best light heavy weight.
Until he is beaten by Dawson, etc or anyone else then he's not.
Till that day, which I doubt will come and if it does Hopkins beats anyone.
He's already ruined the career of one young gun.
Bring on Dawson!
ok reality check:
#1 he lost to calzaghe
#2 the last legit lightheavy he fought was over two years ago and he hasn't fought another one since then...
#3 he lost to calzaghe...
#4 he's about to force another middleweight to move up to lightheavy to fight him
#5 he lost to calzaghe
#6 he doesn't even fight lightheavyweights
#7 he lost to calzaghe
Wink had no business any higher than 168 anyway. At 154 Wink was cut and he was a monster. At 170 you start seeing those love handles.
he was fighting like someone painted crazy glue on the bottom of his shoes...
thats about right...that fight should have been a draw... no conclusive winner imo...golden boy stacked the deck on wink...he should have bitched to the camera like malignaggi and lobbied for a rematch...

Maybe. Unfortunately, I can't bring myself to watch it again. Nevertheless, I thought Hopkins looked weary in the latter rounds. Winky looked weary from the opening bell.
