I kind of had a love affair with Jones Jr., Tarver and Mayweather Jr. all when I started watching boxing in 07. I liked Jones Jr.'s rap (please don't judge me... I've changed a lot since then), and was interested to see the trilogy with Tarver, who was the first guy to really stretch Jones, which was interesting.
I also thought Mayweather's entrance was hilarious against Baldomir (I had been drinking that night), so I decided to give him a look.
That said, I really am not that big of a fan of any of those guys any more. I like Mayweather and Tarver some, but... not a huge fan of either.
Welcome out of the closet.
Prince Naseem
as a little kid growing up in the 90's Hamed was just the best to watch
Cool entrances
flip over the ropes
hands down by the side
dancing in the ring
super human reflexes
deadly knock out power
cocky as hell
Naz was THE MAN.
Man I'm in the minority here. But I was a big fan of Shannon Briggs when I was younger. He headlined the first show I ever went to, and turned out he headlined the first show that I ever covered as a writer too. Briggs fell out fairly fast and I moved on, but we're not always proud of our "first time" but we're fond of it. So I stand by good Ol' Briggsy years later.
That is very disturbing...
Oscar clearly beat Mosley in the rematch and whipped Trinidad into shape early enough that Trinidad can't win without a knockdown/out IMO.
He obviously lost to Sturm, I thought it was fairly clear that he lost to Quartey, and the Whitaker fight is a toss-up.
Well I didn't see Quartey in the list. I thought Oscar won that by one point.
I thought in the Mosley rematch. Shane landed the more significant punches. I thought Oscar only landing pitty pat flurriess. I thought Shane won 7rds.
I thought Sturm beat him clearly.
I thought Shane won the first fight clearly.
I thought Whitaker won
I thought Floyd clearly won 8rds
The Tito-Oscar fight. I had Tito winning rds 1,4,5,9,10,11, and 12. I had Oscar winning rds 2,3,6,7,8, That leaves 7rd-5 (115-113) in favor of Tito. I thought rds 1 and 5 were swing rounds that could of gone either way though.
It's all good... Mosley I and Sturm were pretty clear losses for Oscar IMO... the clearest of the group, other than Mayweather.
Yeah, I'm gonna watch and rescore a couple of these fights and leave some notes in the close rounds for some of these debates.
From what I remember, I had Oscar sweeping the first 4 against Quartey, Ike pretty much taking over except for one round in between and Oscar getting a 10-8 in the 12th. I remember scoring the round where they traded kds 10-9.
He swept all but 1 round of the first 9 against Trinidad.
Can't remember a lot about the second Mosley fight.
In the Mayweather fight they traded rounds in the first half, probably 4-2 for Oscar and 5-1 for Mayweather the second half.
Need to go back and watch the fights, but I've posted a couple before that I remember:
De La Hoya
114-113 Quartey
116-112 Trinidad
115-113 Mosley II
113-115 Mayweather
