There ARE a lot of divisions and belts right now, and THAT is why this makes it so significant. Even though we are in an era of MANY belts, no one yet has accomplished 7 division championships.
Somewhat yes I do, I just have a problem with guys who kill themselves to have a huge advantage, thats not what boxing should be about, it distorts wins from being on a skill level to being on a size issue.
Isn't that what floyd's done, he outweighed marquez tons of tons of muscle by cheating as if he is not confident enough of his skills?
Its not 7 divisions but rather 6 and a half since Cotto cant weigh in at 147.
correct me on this one
6 and a half division does not total up to 145 pounds.
more like 6 and 7.1
so if you round it to the nearest division it would be 7
Oh god you are more stupid thn I thought.
Alphabet belts is not teh same as lineal championships, he is a 4 division lineal title and a 4 division title holder.
If he beats Cotto he will become a 5 division belt holder!!!!!
it's still 7
it's fine. let the moron count being a "champion" his way.
just call him out if he ever calls cotto a "champion" because cotto hasn't won shit. :lol1:
don't get mad... its still 7
No, its not.
Lineal champ/Division Champion at 112,126,130 and 140.
World Championships/Alphabet Belts at 112(WBC) ,122(IBF) ,130(WBC) ,135(WBC)
he aint no 7 times champion!!!!
112, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, 147 (if he beats cotto) = 7
That bufoonery and you know it. Hatton wasnt towering over his opponents at 140 like Manny towered over his at flyweight, apples and oranges.
Do you any issue regarding Thomas Hearns ATG status? Or Pwill at WW? Shall we take in reach advantage and have an issue with Cotto-Margarito, Pbf-Jmm?
Granted, it's not as impressive as it was back in the day, but Flyweight to Welterweight is 35lbs, which is pretty good. Looking at this from a different angle, if Hatton won consistently all the way up to light heavyweight and was about to take on Chad Dawson, I'd be pretty impressed. Not only that, most of Manny's opponents have been given the biggest beatdown they ever had. The way in which MP has performed is awesome.
No former Flyweight champion has ever challenged for even a piece of the Welter title. Ever. No Featherweight champ has done it in DECADES. Fly to Welter is FIVE of the original eight. That's why this is bad ass.
Be more bad ass without a catch weight but whatcha gonna do.
That bufoonery and you know it. Hatton wasnt towering over his opponents at 140 like Manny towered over his at flyweight, apples and oranges.
Manny was a kid fighting grown men. You say he was towering above them? I had no idea there are different height classes in boxing. My bad. You must hate Paul Williams.

Pac is a great fighter but his multiple weight titles gets overrated IMHO. Pac started his pro career really young and is just now hitting his natural weight. The multiple division titles would be more impressive if Pac's goal all along was to gain weight too fight the best in every division instead of just growing into his natural weight at JWW like he did. It's still pretty impressive though...
Movin up as far as Pac has is a gr8 accomplishment. The 4 lineal titles is what counts most. And he now willin to face Cotto at WW, when he just got to LW at JWW within the last 18 months.
When back then there weren't as many :dunce:
Inflation my friends. 3 division then is like 10 now.
Yeah its no big deal.
and who is the guy that was able to accomplish this?
Correct me pls but i think nobody has done this right? No?
your 60,000 points to my 60,000 points if you are so sure.....
deal?
He is awesome but who has he beat in the last 2 fights?
Oscar -out of his prime, weight drained
and
Hatton- very over-rated
I am very sure that Cotto will KO him....
the big difference in divisions was from 147 and on in my opinion. It would be like Mayweather go up and beat pavlik after Baldomir...THIS IS WHY THE OLD ONES ARE REGARDED AT A HIGHER SCALE
lets see, these were the traditionals:
* Flyweight (Maximum 112 pounds)
* Bantamweight (118)
* Featherweight (126)
* Lightweight (135)
* Welterweight (147)
* Middleweight (160)
* Light Heavyweight (175)
* Heavyweight (unlimited)
for a guy that started at 106, he would have been in 5 which it would have been a LOT back in the days. The problem would have been the sanctioning bodies. Instead of having 4 belts, it was only one so becoming champion was much harder. Now a guy like PAC could have still gotten 112/118/126/135(this one pushing it) so that's a potential for 2-4 belts and if he was crazy enough to go up to 147 and get a belt that would have been insane.
Now Cotto is the No1 WW in my eyes, so regardless if is at 145 instead of 147 it is still a HUGE deal. But as u can see those 7 divisions would not have been 3
