Personally, I never became a fan of Paulie's until he faced Cotto. Until he got his face re-arranged, and hung in there... until he got his jaw broken... and hung in there. Ortiz wouldn't have handled that, Ortiz never would have had the guts to pull off something like Nigel Benn did against McClellan in round one (if you haven't seen it, I reccomend watching Rd1 of that fight... How Benn stayed in it is just phenomenal). Silly, naive boy. Thank god boxing is good at giving second chances.
he has got a hell of a lot of making up 2 do no doubt
without a doubt. He think unless he beats up khan, not many people will forgive him. I just hope it was an off night or the words come out wrong. You can dispute he's a exiting fighter to watch though.
"i don't deserve this kind of treatment. hbo how could you put me in with this madman. i thought we had a deal to only fight creampuffs. antonio diaz? sold!"
it was just shocking. I lost mad respect for him after that. You never know though, he might have learned from that fight and improved so im gona give him another chance when he fights again. The boy has got talent without a doubt and he's got a good chin, but if you havnt got the heart to fight on then get out while you have your health.

it was quite incredible too see/hear
i suppose we have become accustomed too boxers showing tremendous heart, and for a young prospect with a potentially glittering career ahead of him too say that was like :wow:

I have to say i agree, I used to be a big fan but for him to quit was bad but the interview afterwards is what really shocked me. He said im young i dont need to get beaten up like that. He must have forgot he's in a sport where the aim is to beat someone up and hurt them?? what does he want? a world title and fight people who never fight back or hit him hard??

I distinctly remember throwing the garlic rolls I got (was having a fight party) at the telly when he said that. He was embarrassed, and I think if he knew how cowardly he came off trying to save face, he'd have chosen his words more carefully. I, too, used to like the guy.... but there is no room for apathy, for vanity, or for cowardice in boxing.
Quite a good win for Amir in the ams too. Unfortunately, I have to agree with your assesment of Victor. His last fight proved that his heart is far weaker than Amir's chin will ever be (which is saying something). He lost a lot of fans that day, he really let a lot of people down.

yeah its true. I found that out a while ago. While i used to think victor would smash him up in the pro's with victors last fight im not so sure now. Ortiz lacks heart and that is a major ingredient in becomeing a champ in boxing.

ye its true
khan has started too use some of his amateur expierience in his last few fights instead of sitting down on his punches and leaving himself open, hes much better when he boxes and moves
