Rogers Mtagwa Vs Yuriorkis Gamboa?? WHY?

I ask "WHY?!" as well. I have no desire to ever see Mtagwa again - he was shit.

I'm going to have to side with Mtagwa.I don't think Gamboa has what it takes when Roger starts letting his hands go and applying pressure.Gamboa imo will be K.O'd Gamboa is the all around better boxer, but has been dropped by lesser opponents.Roger can and will take Gamboa's punches,but what will Gamboa do if he cant take Roger's and gets dropped a few times.I'm not hating this is just My opinion

u do kno gomboa's been dropped like 4 times right ... he isnt the master of defense himself, he can always get caught. juanma if anything proved he has a pretty amazing chin it was amazin he never went down in that fight ... Gamboa's defense has improved alot since the last time he was dropped.

Probably because Juanma and Arum just realsied he is barking up the wrong tree with Gamboa !!!!!!! Forget Conception , Chris John is the fight for Gamboa right now !!!!!!!!! , people say this division needs big fights hell they dont get bigger than that !!! In the meantime Juanma Caballero is the hottest fight brewing up @120 , then maybe move onto Vasquez & Marquez then maybe think about going up forget Luevano . I hate Bob Arum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gamboa is not ready for John yet.

Mtagwa doesn't really deserve a title a shot. It's just that he got it because it looks like it'll make an entertaining fight.

I don't like the way Arum uses these guys as cash cows (but I guess noone does... except Arum) it's obvious he's only putting Gamboa in against Mtagwa to build up the fight between Gamboa and Juanma and I think since Juanma is Arums's Cotto 2.0 (in the way that hes grooming Juanma to be the next PR superstar he can milk for money over time, albeit a better protected one) and he probably intends for Juanma to beat Gamboa, staying with Top Rank just isn't in Gamboa's best interests... for the reasons stated I think there's a fair chance from Arums reactions at end of Mtagwa vs Juanma (the way he didn't mention a future fight with Gamboa or Caballero since Juanma had performed poorly) that if Gamboa stops Mtagwa like I think he will, the fight with Juanma might get delayed for a while; I would love to see Gamboa tell Arum to sit on it and fight Concepcion then Chris John instead like other people have said... going rounds with a highly skilled but not huge punching guy like Chris John would be great for Gamboa's skillset i think gamboa is not with top rank. or he is??? hes with arena. right?? can somebody clarify!! thanks!

Mtagwa will be the best opponent Gamboa will have fought but yeah I think he'll do better than Lopez did mainly because I doubt he'll fight the type of fight that Mtagwa wants unlike Lopez. bingo!! hes going to pot shot him! and display his boxing skills.. something that lopez forgot to do!! but I disagree with freddy. .I dont expect gamboa to ko rogers.

the decision is stupid, i also wanted to see him fight against concepcion, but i am surprised that so many people do want to see him fight the african i guess that it could be a fun fight and also help hype up the match up with lopez

Not really, he does it right in front of his opponents quite a bit, especially when he first turned pro. He's adopted a more hands up approach in his past couple of fights but he still drops his hands and moves his head right in front of his opponents from time to time.

He will definitely look way better against Mtagwa even if he doesn't KO mtagwa which I'm betting he does unless mtagwa magically improves his defense over night. I mean I can't see gamboa holding onto the ropes for dear-life like Lopez did. Mtagwa will be the best opponent Gamboa will have fought but yeah I think he'll do better than Lopez did mainly because I doubt he'll fight the type of fight that Mtagwa wants unlike Lopez.

It's mainly to compare Gamboa's performance against Mtagwa with Lopez', and if Gamboa wins in more convincing fashion he one ups Lopez. They are tentatively scheduled to fight each other sometime next year.

i dont think its that bad of a matchup if the following bout is juanma vs. gamboa ... the way mtagwa fought he deserved another decent payday imo and i'm alittle interested in how gomboa beats him in comparison to juanma. concepcion needs more maturing it seems ... he seemed to fall apart mentally against luevano. i take concepcion as a guy who may be a real force in a couple more years. and mtagwa doesnt seem to make a bad fight so at least we kno it should be good ....
