Damn his trainer is only 32. Hope he knows what to do and how to advise his fighter in a bad situation. At this point of Cotto's career I think Cotto needed and more experienced trainer in his corner
If that were the case Cotto would win.
cotto is too big, he will win.
Manny might be training to control the pace himself. Manny is a high volume puncher if Cotto stands still and if Cotto can't out punch him he might lose.
Cotto can't just expect to catch him and knock him out. That be too easy if he thinks that way.
pac never fought anyone that hit as hard as cotto. all cotto needs is to land a few punches. there's no way pac should last 6 rounds w/ pac. if he does, then cotto needs to retire.
Any one has the ability to improve in other aspects of their game to increase their ability and performance. They say style makes fights, but if you can improve your ability you can compete against other different styles instead of losing just because the other guys style was better or too much for you.
this fight isn't about styles... cotto is too big
Boxing can be taking to another level never seen, but many boxers work on their skills instead of their ability to become a more complete fighter.
cotto don't need to be complete, he just needs to be bigger to win this fight.
I saw Shane training in aerobics that can help your stamina and conditioning a whole lot. You can train anyway others don't think possible.
SSM was just there to fukk w/ the hot babes there.
well i know one thing, he must know something because he sure as hell was watching the right fight on that second episode. marquez-pacquiao 2.
LOL, Cotto is gonna be fighting like JMM now. Cotto has good boxing skills but not that great.
he should have hired emmanuel steward when he had a chance.
Yeah i've also said this... I think Cotto falling out with his uncle made him not want to work with anyone else for now
Cottos trainer is doing fine.
They where looking at how Pacquiao always lowers his right hand before throwing a staight left and how pacquiao throws wild punches when he gets hit.
The trainer is not really that important when a fighter is at his peak or close to it.
I think that was extremely stupid for them to state that on film... Roach runs his mouth alot but he never ever discusses any true weaknesses or flaws of an opponent on film like that, letting them now be alert of those
1) landman is a professional
2) cotto's foot work is good enough
3) cotto don't need to train to be quicker, just be trained to cut off the ring
he should train to control pace, not fight at a faster pace.
yes, cotto has stamina problems, but you can't train that away.

Cotto is comfortable with the situation. Sanitago gives him tips and advice. I do agree to an extent that Cotto trains himself, but Santiago is the trainer and does job.
Just maybe Landaman isn't good enough. Cotto foot work is just o.k, but he has to take it another level against Pac. Cotto got use to planting his feet too much. He needs to move and punch. If you don't train those things you can't expect to starts doing it in the ring. and if Cotto start trying to move quicker seeing that he can get Pac he might become fatigue a lot faster.

So that is why he should train at a faster pace so he can get into better condition. If cotto got fatigue in his other fights its for a reason. He just doesn't train hard enough. He doesn't know, because he doesn't have a good enough trainer. Margarito has a trainer that pushes him to the limit. He calls it like a military training. That's what Cotto needs.

landman is there to improve the speed and conditioning.
cotto's footwork is already good.
you can't catch up to pac, you got to head him off at the pass (ie. cut off the ring)
then ring is only 24x24... pac can't run forever and cotto is a hard puncher. one punch from cotto can turn the fight around.
cotto is too big and has no excuse for losing to a former 106 lber.

Isnt that pretty huge?
If you don't have someone to help you work on your speed and conditioning, plus your foot work. How can you catch up to a fighter as quick and fast as Pacquiao?
Its not wise to keep doing the same thing expecting a different result. You act like its easy to catch Pac. If Pac comes prepare he won't be an easy target.

cotto don't need a trainer for this fight, all he needs to do is bully pac to the ropes then unload bodyshots. its not hard to understand that.

If Cotto feels comfortable, who cares ?
I bet Manny would feel more comfortable if Roach wasn't strict as he is, but that won't help him be at his best. You can't know how something taste until you try it. And Cotto doesn't know what its like to be train by a real coach. Someone that can take you to another level that you never thought possible.

I mean yea experience doesn't matter because at this point Cotto is a proffessional and he knows what to do....to a point. But it matters as far as strategy goes. Older trainers have been in more fights and now how to prepare for a certain type of fighter. It would be interesting to see if his strategy will work. And an experience trainer would also have a plan b and c
