Faster Puncher: Mayweather or Khan?

I actually think this is the case for Pacquiao, but not for Floyd or Khan. Take away Floyds speed and he basically has no offense at all. He can't take risks, put combinations together, taking his speed away all he's gonna be able to do is cover up and block. Take Khans speed away and he becomes a c class offensive fighter. Take away Pacquiaos speed and he's still got angles and power. This has to be one of the most ridiculous analogies I've ever read. Yeah, and if you take away Pacqious feet he can't walk.

Fast forward to about 1:14. When Khan can throw 3 straight right hand leads like that and knock his opponent down then talk about his handspeed being close to Floyds

Amir Khan. It definitely looks like it after tonight's fight against Salita, although maybe it was too brief to use as a measuring stick.

Khan has the fastest hands in boxing IMO. He might well be the fastest out there right now.

Floyd's movement is faster than Amir's. But Amir's handspeed is faster than Floyd's. Yeah that kind of sums it up I guess.

A few posters have touched on a very good point, Khan's A-B hand speed is quicker then Mayweathers just like Zab Judahs is but Floyd disguises his speed well.Feinting and quick movement is what allows him to lead with whatever he likes. It's true, technically Mayweather is in a pretty exclusive league in that respect. But Khan's A-B hand speed could well be faster than Mayweather's.

khan pitty pats thats why he looks so fast I remember Barrera's head getting knocked back quite frequently in their fight when Khan was throwing very fast combos.. i think Khan does pack some power mixed with his speed but he's not a brutal KO puncher..

Amir Khan has faster hands. Floyd probably seems faster to opponents (which is the most important) because of his unpredictability, feints, and his already fast hands. True.. Floyd has a way of moving and positioning himself to execute those punches very effectively.

Khan is faster, Mayweather has great timing which makes him look faster than he really is at the WW level. If you compared the Mayweather from the lower weight classes then their speed is about even.

In term of who gets from A to B faster, it's Khan. Obviously Mayweather is the much greater fighter and there isn't much between them in handspeed.

Have to check later to compare Floyd (now) vs. Khan...but Floyd's speed below 147 was better than his speed now...so it depends on the direction of the question. Good point. It's more concerning the current speed at their current weight divisions. So Mayweather as a WW and Khan as a JWW.

Mayweather's handspeed is faster than Khan's. He throws technically sound power shots as quick as Khan's pitter-patter arm punches
