Would you consider journey men successful? If someone is able to make a decent living as a boxer, but not able to be close to the elite level, is that successful?
Depends on your goals. Everyone has different explaination for what success is. IMO if you are able to make a living at what you love to do that is success
I would say any of the 4 world title's would have to be seen as a succesfull boxing career , providing there has been domestic title's held previoulsy and the world title was not an alphabet title !!!!!
Of course he is. He fought everyone. Tszyu, Castillo, Mayweather, Pacman and a shitload of other champs. He's also former Light welterweight and Welterweight champ.
??
OK just wondering, i think success is probably based on your capabilities
A limited Journeyman winning a world title is a success story, an ultra talented fighter with ATG potential winning only a world title is probably a failure and an underachievement
Success = supporting your family and your lifestyle, winning a fair few amount of fights and winning a lower level belt
When you start getting to World championship level is when you're elite level IMO, then you get P4P, ATG etc
if i were a boxer??? being able to do it as a career and supply sufficient means for me and my family... as much or more than i'd make doing anything else...
Yup. Make enough money to support yourself and your family, and not get too beat up doing it. I think, though to really class yourself a 'success' in the sport you would need a title win or two; albeit it only national ones.

as in, being good enough at it to "make a career" out of it and provide... obviously if you suck you wont make any money hardly per fight, plus you'll get less and less fights as time goes on..
however, as a spectator... "successful" only means one of the better fighters of your gen...
a career that allows you to support you and your a family and one you can look back on and say"i lived my dream"
agreed. being able to support a family through boxing would be an accomplishment in itself.
