And when is the last time Cotto has done that to anybody???
he doesnt wind up like hes throwing a fastball...he keeps his punches tight and he hasnt fought any body that leaves themselves THAT open... cotto breaks fighters down
when has manny taken some one out like that before?
It wasn't just one punch that knocked Hatton out. He was already hurt in the first round from quite a couple of hard shorts that Manny easily landed on him due to Hatton's atrocious defense on that fight. That final punch was simply the product of accumulated damage on that short fight up to that point. It wasn't a KO from one punch 1 minute into the first round or something like that. That would've been a 1-punch KO.
And if Hatton ever fought Cotto as he did with Manny, swinging wildly without caring for any kind of defense at all, Ricky would land on canvas knocked out cold in the first round for sure.
Diaz took punishment for round after round, before he eventually got KO'd.
I think the Hatton KO was unexpected and unusual for Pac. But if Pac could do it, Cotto also could. If he loaded up, and Hatton walked onto it, its lights out.
So did a bunch of Cotto opponents, none of them fell flat on their face from one head shot.
If Cotto wanted to and actually tried to, maybe he would have been able to do it. The punch that knocked out Hatton was one that he didn't see coming and that's how you knock fighters out with one punch. Most of the punches Cotto hits his opponents with they can see.
Like I said, it's more than power. Have you ever heard of the saying, the punches that hurt more are the ones you don't see coming? It's true.
Come on Jaz. That "knockdown" was caused partly by Clottey slipping. If Cotto's jabs were THAT powerful (they simply aren't) I don't see how Cotto could bomb Clottey all night with power punches yet not even phaze him. Clottey shook his punches off and pretty much straight up told Cotto he wasn't doing shit. People over rate Cotto's power.
Man I understand you are a pac fan but why discredit cotto. Most of the fighters who have fought cotto say he has a powerful jab. It snapped mosleys head all night and stopped him every time he was coming in and mosley fought at middle weight. Hell he put alphonso gomez down with a jab and gomez was a middle weight during the contender. Was he "slipping" too
David Diaz? Diaz has an iron chin and he got flattened. JMM was dropped once and hurt another from head shots. Morales was dropped from head shots.
Both of them beat up and bruise opponents, the difference is when Cotto stops them it's usually from a body shot, while Pacquiao does it from a head shot.
I'm not saying Pac hits harder, but his speed, explosiveness, and style is what gets him those highlight reel KO's. There's more to 1 punch knockouts than power.

The both tend to beat up their opponents more than KO them.
