Kessler is good but he is the most overrated fighter today by far.
How is it that in a division full of so much potential, that just a couple years ago it was easily the most overlooked weightclass in boxing make a complete 360 turn a round and easily be one of the most talented today?
And yet with all these great contenders out there and possible match-ups waiting to happen, that The number 1 rank easliy outclasses every single individual including rank 2-10? To the point where in this tournament before Kessler even fought that he is such a huge favorite to easily beat every single fighter with one handtied behind his back?
All i'm sayin is Kessler ain't no Ali. The only time he's ever been tested was his debut on HBO against an oppenent who ranks in the top 10 most overrated fighters of all time in Calzaghe, and he was outclassed!
You people need to revaluate Kessler a lil bit...
I've been saying for years that Kessler is overrated. His best win is a loss to Calzaghe. He's a lot like Vitali Klitschko in that way, but Klitschko is much better as a fighter.
Kessler has done nothing but lose to Calzaghe and beat Librado Andrade. No way should he be in anyone's top 20 in the world.
3-0 Europe What?
Bullllllllshit.
Just goes to show you that The best person on Kessler's Resume is ward.
American Contender > European Champion
Gold Medalist > Veteran Pro
Told yall what was gonna happen.... He got dominated
No. Peopel see him for what he is; a talented fighter who's won some belts but ain't got any big names on his res. Most notable fight was a loss, so understandable that gets him the overrated tag. I do think he'll win the super 6.
How come every time something negative is said about a european fighter that ppl automatically jump to the conclusion that it's an american vs europe thing or a black vs white thing? How come ppl cant just state opinion. Just becuz I made a Kessler thread don't mean I Hate on Europeans.
Idk really, Does Kessler have an Amatuer Background?
Because you and others make the same mistake every time.
"Kessler/Calzaghe/Froch/Abraham overrated - because the havent fought anybody". But they have. You just dont seem to rate overseas fighers at all and the best US-fighters are always automatically top #1-10.
The level of Kessler's opponents. I could see some very competitive fights
Bhop/Taylor/Ward vs. Mundine
Lacy/Wright vs. Beyer/Sartison
Miranda/Bika/Bute vs. Andrade
I hope for a Kessler win in this tournament, but he could lose to every one of them - so many different styles and skills.
The only way Kessler will get some respect, will be to lose the final vs. Ward/Dirrell. If Kessler wins - "Taylor was shut, and Dirrell, Ward, Froch and Abraham all overrated big time and would have lost to a prime Bhop and Jones fighting with one hand tightened behind the back".
I can't help but get the feeling that if Kessler wasn't European we wouldn't be seeing so many people calling him "overrated"...he's 42 and 1 with wins over the likes of Andrade, Beyer and Mundine for crying out loud!
We get to find that answer out with Ward. If Ward whoops Kessler for all 12 rounds, then will see if Kessler is overrated...
Or rather if Kessler beats Ward the saying will be that Ward unproven and no good to begin with.
Kessler's best wins: Beyer, Mundine, and Andrade. People talk as if he's the clear cut #1 Super Middleweight. I know people take how he lost int equation, but whoever said he was underrated needs to get their head out of their ass.
Bute: Bika, Andrade, and Berrio.
Froch: Pascal, Taylor, and Dirrell.
Abraham: Gevor, Miranda, and Taylor.
I personally think Kessler is a tad overated.
There is no doubt that he has skill but his level of competition isn't the best.
His best wins are Andrade, Mundine and Beyer and none of them are anything special.
Froch has the best resume in the tourney with Pascal, Taylor and Dirrell on his resume. I thought he lost to Dirrell though.

He is. Just I dont think he earned it with his post Calzaghe wins.
I made the Ali Comparison solely on all the hype i been seeing for kessler as of lately on here. I didnt compare their fighting styles, jus stated that I think ppl are overestimating him as if he is an ATG great like Ali.
But you do think that Mayweather deserves a higher ranking than Pac even though his results that matters are way back. What's the difference between ranking Kessler and Mayweather? Are you having a double standard or...?
I prefer Ring Magazines, although i do believe Mayweather should rank higher than Pacman, thats the only thing i agree on
