I know a lot of people think it is time for Taylor to call it quits but I for one really hope he sticks this tournament out at least one more fight. He should be able to at least make it the distance against Ward and survive to fight Kessler. A knockout loss to Kessler is almost assured and would be a huge payday and a good spot to call it quits as their is no shame in losing to the Dane..
If Taylor vacates his spot there is no alternative that poses any more of a threat to the remaining challengers. It isn't even up for debate. Anyone who steps in for him (unless it was Bute which wont happen) is going to get embarrassed and lower the quality of the competition.
Allen Green is, and always will be, a stupid cunt. He does not deserve a payday at Jermain Taylor's expense and he would get his ass schooled by Ward and get knocked out by Kessler himself.
Why anyone would want Taylor to step aside for any reason other than his own desire to do so is beyond me. He has nothing to be ashamed of and should be allowed to continue with this series without people degrading him as a washed up bum.
Jermain Taylor fought a very respectable fight for 11 rounds 2 min and 50 secs. The performance he put on against Abraham would have been enough to beat Allan Green or Edison Miranda without too much trouble. So why would anyone want other fighters who consistently put on very mediocre performances on the big stage to get a chance to run their mouths and disrespect much more deserving fighters at Taylor's expense?
That's what I've been saying the whole time. If Chad Dawson was in the division, the tourney wouldn't even exist.
I think a similar tournament at 175 would be a great idea.
Dawson
Johnson
Cloud
Braehmer
Pascal
Campillo
This would have all 4 belts involved and would have some big names and a group of otherwise hungry fighters.
I also think Showtime would be able to pull of getting all these guys signed under the same banner.
If Chad Dawson could drop down 7 pounds like he says he can he would dominate all of the.

The problem is he is good enough to land hard, fast and LATE! and that spells trouble for Taylor! Id love to see him do well and win em all from this point and prove a lot of people wrong. shame it wont happen, it would be a cinderella story!
Plus Kessler has a history of pushing for and getting that late stoppage.
Like I said before though, a knockout loss to Kessler is no shame, it's a huge payday and he can retire with quite a few more bucks from these next two fights.
Taylor could avid getting stopped by Kessler, Kessler isn't that aggressive.

If he feels he can do it i think he should go for it, i think he could beat both Dirrel and Ward..
I would like to see him continue the super-six!:D
I don't think he can beat any of these guys really.
I just don't think any of them beside Kessler will hurt him.

I agree.
Show me one who can do better against Abraham.
If it wasn't for the KO, I thought Taylor did ok, even if he was loosing a close fight. He fixed the stamina, he stayed on the outside like he was supposed to..
I just fill sorry for Taylor, and it just hits me hard the way he's getting stopped these days. He seems like a really nice guy too. There's a lot more people in boxing who deserve a brutal KO more then Taylor.
I don't think he's a bum and probably shouldn't fill sorry for him, but i do. I can't help it.
Respect for Jermain Taylor.
I agree word for word!!:fing02:
I don't think he should drop out either. People are fukkin' pussies these days. A few k.o losses and everyone loses their heart.
In the old days, mothafukkas got ktfo all the time and fought more often to boot.
.
LOL. That's another way of putting it.
He has looked good in the ring before with highlight reel ko's like in the rest of the fights since Miranda other than the 2 you mentioned...
His highlight reel KOs have all come against either:
A) fighters will very shaky chins like Codrington and De Leon
or
B) Washed up vets or journeyman who have been stopped multiple times at lighter weights by average fighters.
For instance, it took Green 7 rounds to get rid of Carl Daniels in a fight at 168, Andy Lee did the job in 2 rounds at 160.
Green failed to stop Rubin Williams who was then stopped in his next 3 fights by guys who are not known for their power.
Sherwin Davis, well he was already getting knocked out by the Peter Manfredo's of the world a full 4 years before Green took such a huge risk by fighting him...
Green is severely underrated on this site I know he doesn't perform up to his potential sometimes but there is no doubt in my mind that the ability to beat anyone in the tourney or in the world at SMW is there for him.
What other criteria can a fighter possibly be rated on besides their performance in the ring?
If he is underrated on this site it is because he has done absolutely nothing with his career since he lost embarrassingly to Edison Miranda, who has been exposed as nothing but a crude slugger, the type of guy that Green should have beaten even with his physical problems.
JT's last fight was pretty close. If he's healthy I don't see why he shouldn't continue. It's not a given Kessler beats him.
The Jermain Taylor that fought Abraham would beat Froch on most nights.
Allen Green would be an excellent replacement. I think he knocks Taylor out cold. He's the naturally biggest man in the tourney. Allen Greene also arguably has the best jab in the tourney and the most power.
ALLEN GREENE!!
If he had that much power he would have gotten rid of Rubin Williams or Tarvis Simms.
I honestly can't think of a guy who is more consistenly inconsistent than Allan Green.

hate to say it, but the writing is on the wall and I know it was premature of me to say this before, but coming off a knockout loss ... who really wants to see JT fight again?
Really though, does anyone want to see Allan Green instead?
That guy has turned down so many fights and f*cked over so many people with his pull outs that it would almost be a crime for him to receive a payday at the expense of a fighter like Taylor who has basically faced a gangbang of p4p caliber fighters over the past 3 years.
If the alternate was a hardworker and someone deserving like Librado Andrade I would be all for it, but Allan Green is garbage and the only person who thinks he is a world class fighter is himself.
this is really a tough situation for Showtime/Taylor
as if Taylor's chin isn't done by now, im sure his confidence is .. or very close to
i only want JT to retire cuz I don't feel he can hang ... sure he "almost" made the full 12 rounds with Abraham
but if you noticed, after about the 4th round, JT trailed off quite a bit which allowed Abraham to get back into the fight.

I admit I am a tiny bit interesting, however it's starting to look like S.S.D.F (same story different fight)
I don't think it would be foolish for someone like Bika. I think it would be an opportunity for him to step it up and display his skills to the world.
I was talking about Williams or Dawson. Of course Bika would step in and it would make sense for him as he has very little earning power otherwise.
As for Bute, he has said he is content not being involved and if there was a possibility that he could be I think he would have been there from the beginning.
I agree about Bute, though I think Bika would have a tough time with the styles and wouldn't be much of a threat.
Other people mentioned Paul Williams and Chad Dawson, while both guys would be excellent choices the problem is as I said before; the alternate is probably already set in stone due to contracts.
Not to mention it would be foolish for either of them to step into Taylor's spot and have to fight with the huge disadvantage of having 0 points with only two fights remaining including one against Kessler.
No manager worth his salt would put such a valuable commodity in such a ****ed up situation.

Besides if he wins his remaining 2 fights he could advance. If he doesn't and goes undefeated(unlikely) he would walk away as a top contender and a pretty payday.
I think Bute would be the most interesting however. Although that will be extremely unlikely and he has more to lose.
he's recovered from his concussion. having him in the super six is a hellvua lot better than having green or miranda. The 2 best replacements would be bika and bute.

It doesnt matter, JT got hurt and his career is done. He wont be able to continue so Showtime is going to have to decide who that replacement should be. Nobody should just get to walk into his spot. There should be some sort of box off.
