im a massive cotto fan but im not going to overlook that he beat a man smaller than him....hes not going to get favoritism from anybody hes just chasing a payday hes fighting a guy whos naturally 1 maybe 2 weighclasses smaller

well beating pacquiao wouldn't make me think much more of cotto than i already do. there's no doubt in my mind cotto will handle pacquiao easily and with little to no effort. pacquiao isn't much a of a threat at the division and honestly we know he isn't that good, so i wouldn't be surprised at all. i'll give him all the credit in the world when mayweather-cotto happens after cotto beats pac, if he comes out victorious. now that'd be an evenly matched and competitive fight. I use think Mayweather was fighting Cotto but he won't. He won't fight Cotto if he wins or loses.

I'll say that he may have been avoided to some degree but some of that could also have been a result of his outrageous demands.

Only thing I can think of is your just being a hater. Pac is a proven and legit 140lb fighter (arguably the best 140lb in the world), has fought at WW, and is p4p top 2 fighter in the world. If Cotto beats him he should be given full credit, because like Cotto said: "It's a guy coming up to challenge for my title". Also It's not like Cotto hasn't fought the best at WW. Fact...no one since Oscar has had a better resume at 147 and the only guys left for cotto at this moment are Floyd, Pwilliams, and Berto. The first two are tied up and Cotto will eventually get Berto's ass. So seeing how he has fought the best at 147 already, him facing and beating Pac will be another feather in his cap. I'll give Cotto full credit should he win because Pac has been established at this weight and has proven his ability to bang there. In contrast, the Mayweather/Marquez scenario involved a guy who had never fought at that weight and was clearly affected by the weight gain and the other guy did not even hold his end of the bargain. Pac seems better suited at lightweight due to his frame but he has done well at welter and should provide a much better challenge for Cotto than JMM did for Mayweather.
