I rewatched this fight last night and it seems to leave a really bitter taste in my mouth that 'Evan Fields' of 'Balco' fame beat the 42 year old phenomenon of George Foreman.
I know Holyfield won lots of heavyweight bouts with the benefit of steroids but this one really sucks. At the final bell Big George is so gracious to the cheat that beat him, raising his hand and embracing him before the decision was even given.
Foreman should have been champ that night.
As a huge baseball fan I agree with you 100%. But you know what. Balco was shady. They knew they were illeagal. But they were telling their customers otherwise. They told them that it was all leagal.Thats why he is in jail right now. He lied to a grand jury and lied to customers basically false advertisment. I mean before Balco was exposed alot of ppl did and would have taken something that says will help you recover fast after a workout. Dont alot of us take stuff just like that? I take cellmass. Thats what cellmass does. No-xplode helps you build muscle and helps you get better harder reps. But yes most of it is creatin and its not banned. But before anyone knew of illeagal substances they took it and more would have too.
That's a good point.
The only thing is why did Holyfield give a fake name for a (probably suspiciously expensive) legal suppliment? Hell, why not offer to be the official TV face of it and get it free and lots of advertising dollars into the bargain?
I appreciate your desire to be fair because I often do the same but I can't see this not being a very suspicious set up.
There's no debate that Holyfield plus steroids won the fight as scored by anyone with eyes.
I'm just left with a very nasty taste in my mouth by Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield. It is incontrovertable that Balco were providing illegal performance enhancing drugs to 'Evan Fields' with the contact number of Evander Holyfield's personal cell phone.
I can't be bothered to look for dates as even if this was before, after or during is irrelevant. Balco were and are far from the only source of illegal performance enhancing drugs and if you are willing to go on the books of a freakin medical labratory you might just have got bored of the shit you can pick up from any corner or gym. You might also be concerned that the regular stuff might just be caught in a test. Either way, once is enough to cast doubt and shame on a whole career.
I am unhappy about steroids in boxing and consider them as dangerous as illegal wraps and anyone who has used them so as to punch a man in the head harder and faster is a criminal to me.
Holyfield is a cheat and a hypocrite to call himself 'The Real Deal'.

Yeah, Holyfield looked good in that fight his combination punching was brilliant. No way did Foreman win. As for the drugs thing I don’t think it’s been proven that he took them in that specific fight.

No, but you do seem to be awarded rounds for injecting yourself, taking pills, changing your body type drastically and endangering another man's life in pursuit of a win, glory and money!
What a hero!!!!!!
If you're going to start reversing decisions for steroid use then you might as well wipe out Holyfield's whole career, or the majority of boxers' careers from 1980's onwards because many of them have surely used illegal substances.
I'm talking about what happened in the fight.
He didn't test positive for that fight so he was clean for me.

and you know that 208 lb Holyfield wasn't using roids either eh?
No, 20lbs of extra muscle mass, extra speed, endurance, stamina, ability to overload and recover during training etc, etc, etc. won the fight clearly.
Holyfield cheated. Try using your brain.
A steroidally enhanced man battered a 42 year old opponent for 12 rounds.
Any clearer for you?

Foreman took a beating. I didn't know you were awarded rounds for eating punches and standing up to them.
