remember one thing in favour of Tyson. In hes 9 title defences there was never any doubt. he was never in a war with any of hes opponents, he won big every time.
Lewis, Holyfield and Holmes all had their defenses where they were stryggling big time, and may should have lost. Tyson diddnt.
YEAH, YEAH!!Finally somebody else sees the truth! And that second fight with McCall cannot be called revenge in the true sense of the word! Wake the fak up you Lewis-nuthuggers!
he avenged both his losses which is more than wlad can do
lewis>klitschkos.simple
People seems to forget than he was undisputed heavyweight champion of the world aged just 21.
I find that extraordinary. Here was this kid knocking out full fledged heavyweight champions, in such a brutal style....and he was 21. I'm 21, I could never imagine myself standing up to Wlad or Vitali and even lasting 15 seconds.
Amazing, Mike Tyson was simply unique. You can criticise his boxing ability....but for me, he has a place in boxing history as high as Ali, Robinson, Louis simply because of what he achieved, in such style and at such a young age. He was simply untouchable in his early years.
Lewis: W41(32) L2 D1
best wins IMO
Vitali Klitschko
David Tua
Evander Holyfield
Andrew Golota
Ray Mercer
Tommy Morrison
Donovan Ruddock
Tony Tucker
Frank Bruno
Francois Botha
Hasim Rahman
Was stopped twice, but won by KO in rematches and beat every man he ever faced.
Tyson: W50(44) L6
Best wins IMO
Donovan Ruddock
Frank Bruno
Michael Spinks
Larry Holmes
Tony Tucker
Trevor Berbick
Never won a rematch, was KO'd by 42-1 underdog Buster Douglas.
Theres no comparison.
Tucker- Mike Tyson won on a better margin of points then Lewis did. When Lewis faced Tucket he was on a comebeck and had been inactive for 2 and a half year after the Tyson fight. And he had been a cocaine wreck.
Bruno - Tyson knocked him out in 5 and 3 rounds. Lewis was in big trouble against Bruno the first 6 rounds before knocking him out in the 7th.
Holyfield- Lewis beat and old ,slow and past hes prime Holyfield. In the rematch, however the fight could have gone either way. Lewis was in big problems and wobbled during the middle of the fight. When Tyson faught Holy he had been in prison for 3 years and wasnt the same fighter as before.
Berbick, Holmes and Spinks was knocked out very fast by Tyson what more to expect? When it came to KO, Tyson could never have been knocked out with a punch like thos Rahman and McCall hit lewis with.
Muhammed Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Tyson, Holyfield ,Bowe would never had been humiliated the way Lewis did in hes losses.
I do give Lennox alot credit, because he is a great fighter. But most in hes career he faught he big name oppnonents when their were past their prime. You cant blame Lennox for that, but its just reality.
Bruno,Morrison, Holyfield, Tyson,Tucker wehere all either crackheads, past their prime or boths. Bruno was on hes comebeck by the way...
Hes most impressive wins was over Ruddock and Golota if you ask me.
He struggled big time against Klitschko, Mercer, Holyfield(in rematch), partly agains Tucker, and he never faced Bowe,Moorer or Foreman.
Remember that Bowe vs Lewis was sign to March 1995, but as Lewis lost to McCall and no title would be on the table the fight was cancelled.
I think just Tyson was terrific for 5 years. Great tecniqe, fast hand and a devestating puncher!
Holmes was great, but i just cant see Tyson be betaen by Witherspoon like Holmes shoould have been had the scoring been correct.:boxing:
Comparing resumes is a weak argument sometimes.
Lewis, whilst not as chinny as some would make out, was still not exactly granite. Resume or not, I can't see a young Tyson not catching Lewis. If he connects down goes the Canadian.
As for Holmes, the man was consistency personified. True he picked up one or two fortuitous decisions but his jab alone gives most heavies fits. Honestly see Holmes/Tyson as a toss up but lean toward Larry with a late stoppage.

Buster Douglas? Danny Williams? Kevin McBride?? lmao
Tysons best wins were against an old Holmes, and light heavyweight Spinks!
I think so. He unified the title and and ruled the division like no other guy in 5 years. AMEN
It's Holmes, then Tyson
He's probably the most popular boxer ever though, Even his PPV sales, he sold more with fewer fights than anybody
I think so. He unified the title and and ruled the division like no other guy in 5 years. AMEN
maybe not the greatest champion since Ali... but the most charismatic since...
Lewis .. he lives off the Tyson name. What else has he done
You cannot be serious. Lewis has one of the best resume's in boxing. Besides, Tyson was about 15 years out of his prime when they met. That win means about as much as Calzaghe beating Jones. And that's coming from a big Calzaghe fan.

Your saying it like Lewis did some spectacular KO, where he put a masterful combination, body and head.
Lewis got laid out by Rahman and McCall in his prime, avenging loss's dont mean shit when you get your ass laid out by Bums.
Lewis beat a old Tyson and a old Holyfield.
The man legacy isnt as strong as people think..
Buster Douglas? Danny Williams? Kevin McBride?? lmao

I never said Lewis was living off of Tyson's name. Some other yahoo said that. I will agree that Lewis was a much better HW champion than Wlad.
just noticed that mate.
apologies/
I'm talking about Lewis after you stated that he is living off Tyson's name.
All I'm saying is this he beat who was put in front of him, he avenged his defeats (which Wlad hasn't and many fans respect fighters who avenge their defeats), he unified the division you can't ask for more than that.
And as another poster says Holmes was a fantastic champion.

funny you should mention that Larry Holmes was robbed against Michael Spinks, when an even greater argument can be made that Williams and Witherspoon were robbed against Larry Holmes. Also please note the irony of you telling somebody else not to use Tyson as an example of a top win for Lewis, all the while using a shot, doped up Ali as a credible win for Holmes
I mentioned not using Tyson as a barometer between Lewis and Holmes. To the best of me memory, Ali never fought Lewis. Therefore, Ali could not be uses as a barometer like Tyson could. Please follow along and quit drawing your own arguments out of air. It's quite easy to follow along.
You do realize that Williams lost by 7 points on 2 different scorecards don't you?
The Witherspoon fight though was a very close fight. I believe Holmes won by 2 or 3 rounds but it was close. Every champion has those type of fights.
As far as getting robbed against Spinks. It is really an opinion of mine and doesn't really matter as far as this discussion is concerned. He was still champion for 21 fights and 7 1/2 years before the Spinks fight whether you think he won or loss against Spinks.
a 21,22 years old tyson would beat any version of holmes and lennox lewis.
but that doesnt make me rate him over those fighters..
they just had a better run than mike.
the jail destroyed tyson
Larry Holmes or Lennox Lewis?
Holmes beat Ernie Shavers on 3/25/78 to win the Heavyweight title. He defended the title 21 times going 21-0 (15 KO's) These 21 wins included wins over Shavers, Norton, Ali, Witherspoon, L Spinks, Snipes, etc.... The reign of the 21 fights lasted until 9/21/85 when he was robbed against Michael Spinks. This is a title reign of 7 1/2 years.
Please explain to me how Lewis can touch that? And please don't use Tyson as a barometer because Lewis got into the ring with a prime Mike Tyson when he was 39 years old.

yeah he beat an old Tyson, but he wouldn't have got a 1/5 of the respect if he was taken the distance.
The man unified the heavyweight division and like I said he will only grudging respect from most Americans
Do you rate Wlad by the way?
