Why do americans love dirrells style but hate junior witters?

I don't know anyone that loves Dirrell's style. A lot of non-American boxing fans ought to get over it and realize that Americans aren't nearly as xenophobic as they're made out to be. De La Hoya and Mayweather are probably the most hated fighters of the past few years. Look at whom the hate usually comes from. Americans.

We just know who won the fight. Brits are the ones crying about styles. I created this thread to discuss the similarities in both witter and dirrells stlye, if you wan't to discuss who won the fight, i'm sure theres about a thousand other threads where you can do that.

I don't know of anyone who LOVES Dirrell's style. I'm sure he has his fans, but it's not like he carries a nation of followers into every fight.

I haven't seen any Americans post that they liked the way Dirrell fought. It's just that out of two unimpressive performances one performance was CLEARLY more unimpressive than the other

great question..i just got a chance to watch the froch-dirrell fight...dirrell fought a horrible fight..why was up with all that damn holding???even tho froch didnt do jack shit..i thin the fight shouldve been a no contest it was so bad Co-sign here,I heard his grandpa tell him quite clearly that he ain't getting a D,so he better stop him & he still wouldn't turn it up!!

The last fight I saw with Junior Witter he did nothing and took a beating :dunno:

Dirrell is hands down a better all around fighter than Junior Witter. Witter has little to no pop where as Dirrell can get you out of there if he would sit down more. After the point deduction Dirrell was a different fighter. The Dirrell that we saw after the point deduction and the Dirrell we saw against Hanshaw is an elite fighter. The backing up and running Dirrell is a bitch and deserves all the scorn he gets. It is really agonizing because we have seen enough of the good Dirrell to know how good he could really be if he would sit and fight a little more. I do like his defense and athleticism in the ring but he uses as too much of a crutch rather than using it to set up his elite offensive skills. I think this comes from his training. Although his grandfather has been a great influence on his and Anthony's lives, maybe it is time he got with a world class trainer who could break Dirrell back down and eliminate the amateurness in his game and capitalize on his elite god given skills. With all that said, Froch was just as terrible in different ways. Froch was severely slow and fought like a caveman. Honestly, Froch's slowness alloed Dirrell to get away with his shit. It should have been a very easy fight for Dirrell and he gave it away to an inferior fighter. No way Dirrell can expect to win a decision in a champion's backyard fighting the way he did. The judges got it right.
