I was just watching the Cintron and Johnson fights, and it dawned on me that despite the cheating stuff, we truly need this man back in boxing. There are plenty of reasons I thought he was the shit only 10 months ago - he always brings a fight and comes forward relentlessly, lets his hands go without fear, probably still has a great chin, and would likely make Cotto his girlfriend all over again in a rematch.
In fact, the only WWs that could beat him would be Mayweather, Mosley, Clottey and Williams. I, for one, eagerly anticipate his return to an American ring - not a Mexican one, because they wouldn't check his wraps down there - but an American one, because he'd be under such scrutiny that I bet he'd put on a great show and throw himself right back into the WW title picture.
Come back, Margs!
Because I think Cotto will be more mentally prepared than Margarito and more determined to win the fight. The strong will you saw that night when he was fighting Cotto may have faded away after Mosley, plus he's going to feel pressured to prove to everyone that beating Cotto wasn't a fluke or the product of cheating. I think the KO loss to Mosley and the plaster scandal have taken a toll on him.
Not going to say whether I think he cheated against Cotto or not, but if Cotto fought the wrong game plan now he can correct it in a rematch and learn to adapt this time. I just feel Cotto's determination will overcome Margarito overwhelmingly if they ever had a rematch.
Fair point. But should the rematch ever happen, I'm prepared to put a lot of points on Margs to win again. :box2: Can't wait.
Why would Cotto destroy him in a rematch?

"I want Margarito back."
I don't, other than perhaps to have a rematch with Cotto. No doubt in a rematch Cotto would destroy him basically, and maybe a rematch with Mosley only to be murdered again, then he'd go into retirement. :lol1:
I actually think he would do a ton better in a rematch but don't feel like explaining it here to be honest.
He may not win, but he'd give a better account of himself if he fought SSM again.
Possible. But don't you think that a reason to lose respect for the guy is letting success go to his head? That is one of the main reasons I don't have any respect for Margarito. He said he had no score to settle with Paul Williams and that he would gladly fight Manny Pacquiao. Chicano79, where you at?
I think he would if he could, he seems to fight anyone.
Margs would of course have the psychological advantage like he did 2nd time versus Cintron.
Knowing you can walk through a man's best and keep coming helps Margarito to think he can do it again.
Margarito said that he wanted revenge against Shane Mosley. But saying and doing are two different things. I know Mosley will never give him a shot again, but after Paul's fight with Pavlik, I think if Margarito had any balls he'd try to get that fight. But he won't though, because he is shit above 147.
He's a disgrace
Margarito should be banned for life. It's a real shame he's going to get a chance to come back. Boxing can be a brutal sport. There should be ZERO tolerance for people who feel that pounding on somebody with casts is o.k. I wonder how forgiving we would be if he had seriously hurt somebody...as in hospital...for a long time... or caused a permenant injury of the brain or other faculty....I am sure we wouldn't take it so lightly. ZERO TOLERANCE-period.
He still made Cotto say uncle though, and until proven otherwise Cotto needs to avenge that loss if he wants me to think it is tainted like him and his fans do.
Well, there was Santos... :laff2:
I have a strong feeling it was/will be. Give it a year or so and everyone'll be back to calling him a warrior killing machine again, after he dispatches of a few lesser WWs and starts gearing himself up for a title shot. Actually, I reckon after a tune-up or two, he should get a title shot.
I'm no fan of the guy, but boxing needs him... and he himself knows that he needs boxing.
The first Santos fight was a no contest. I'm one of the people who had Margarito winning the second fight too. But the fact that Margarito went life and death with a guy like that is why I never viewed him as anything special. Santos has been KOd by Jantuah or however you spell it.
Margarito wants to work on his defense, after Mosley beat his ass badly he asked Roach to help train him in future fights when he gets his license back. And if Roach can train Margarito to be like Pacman we could have a monster on our hands, even though i believe he may have cheated against Cotto. The guy still throws over 1,000 punches and with the right trainer he can be a monster.
mayorga vs margarito would still be a definite top of the line scrap. i would pay for that any day.
He definitely makes exciting fights. I wouldn't mind to see him come back just to see him get hammered again Sugar Shane style.
I 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th that!! I wanna see him chew canvas a few times....the scumbag.
LOL even Mayorga gave Shane a tougher fight.
thats true. mayorga is a bad ass fighter. and now that you say that, imagine mayorga vs margarito? none of them have defense on their minds.
He never tries to avenge any of his losses.

I want to know if the cheating thing is blown out of proportion.

He'll probably continue to ignore Paul Williams if he comes back and go after a rematch with Cotto or try to get a fight with Pacquiao. He never tries to avenge any of his losses. It's why I can't stand the guy. His style is exciting though, and the only reason I would want to see him back is because I want to know if the cheating thing is blown out of proportion.
the thing that i was most impress with was that chin. my cousin seen that cotto vs marg fight and could not believe it.
For sure. The only reason it got cracked was because Shugs managed to tee off on it for 9 rounds straight (and would so again if need be; which, thankfully, there isn't). Cotto did tee off on it somewhat, too, but not as effectively and for such a sustained period of time.
pat the thing that i was most impress with was that chin. my cousin seen that cotto vs marg fight and could not believe it.i want to see can he bounce back and prove peopl wrong. he probly beat cotto again cause he dont really like pressure now thats only if come back with same kind of punch resistence.
