This is a man who was soaring up the middleweight rankings, beat BHop twice, and was at one time considered a P4P type fighter. Where did things go wrong for Jermain? When did his stamina become such an issue?
I remember him fighting Winky Wright and earning a draw simply by out hustling Winky in the 12th round. What happened?
Hasn't been the same since:

Sometimes that first KO loss is something some people simply cannot recover from. And look at taylor, he's lost 4 of his last 5 fights. He's broken.
he's lost to basically the same type of fighter everytime, I strong guy who could hit hard and do so for 12 rounds. I don't think he's damaged, he's the same fighter he always was. It also doesn't help that Jermain is tight everytime he fights, he seems nervous and jittery in his movements. That leads to him gassing out quicker too.
but dont the masses shit on fighters when they take less than stellar paths?
fighters are damned if they do and damned if they dont
Yeah true, but he was so beloved in Arkansas he could have had a homecoming fight. I think the issue was that he was DiBella's only cash cow at the time and he got rode hard and fast

Pavlik KO'ing him. Even in the rematch he looked a bit better, but you can tell at that point he has a tough time against aggressive punchers.
I believe Taylor's career has really been mis-managed a bit.
Since 7/2005
Hopkins
Hopkins
Wright
Ouma
Spinks
Pavlik
Pavlik
Lacy
Froch
Abraham
That is 10 world class match ups in 4 years! Name another fighter that has done that without a little bit of a confidence builder fight in between. After the 2 Hopkins victories he should have been given the opportunity to take a soft guy and go home to enjoy it. Instead he gets Winky Wright. His confidence has been shattered(Pavlik) and never regained. JT should retire before he gets seriously hurt.
For what it's worth, I think he went 2-8 in the above fights anyway.
i dunno the 1st pavlik fight ? then again he did fine in the 2nd fight ...i still pic jermain over ward or froch in the rematch he doe sbetter 2nd time aroudn i.e hopkins pavlik

Exactly man. Since the Pavlik fight Taylor lost all confidence.

The first fight with Hopkins
agree with this
I think the moment he stepped up in class, and mind you Hopkins was as high as you could attain for a middleweight, we clearly saw some of the shortcomings Jermain had.
kid is a warrior through and through but was limited and no one could re-engineer him differently
big kudos to him for being a good rep for the sport
The two fights with the executioner, then the ko loss to pavlik that made his shoulder have a spasm. Hate to say this but he might be has shot as other fighters out there, once you get ko'ed' once or twice its hard not to get ko"ed or have that fear in the back of your head, you heard arthur abraham say, he doesnt really hit hard
Taylor's stamina issues weren't a concern for Taylor against Wright because Wright was tired late in the fight and didn't have the power to bother Taylor.
When Taylor got in the ring with guys who could punch hard and punch hard for 12 rounds, thats when his poor stamina was exposed.
This is why I think he can beat Ward.

Why all the hate to Jermain? He fought his best against an opponent who could have Koed anyone in any second, of couse he had to use that damn jab, it wasn't landindg but to keep that fking monster at bay because he knew if he got caught it was going to be over.
People are quick as shit to critize but let's see you or any of the other super 6 go 12 rounds with Abraham at super middleweight were he is not weight drained like he was at 160.
Goddammit.
