Through the first 10 months of 2009 we've seen some impressive and devastating KOs, some on the big stage and others in smaller shows and venues.
The best KOs so far are as follows (in no particular order):
Pacquiao vs Hatton
Abraham vs Taylor
Pitalua vs Reyes
Bailey vs Figueroa
Alvarado vs Clottey
Nishioka vs Gonzalez
Pascal vs Nievas
Adamek vs Banks
Mosley vs Margarito
Marquez vs Diaz
That's ten, perfect for a poll. If you got any others you'd like to nominate please do so quickly. If not, the poll will follow shortly. There are YouTube clips throughout the thread if you did not see any of the mentioned KOs, so please take a minute to check 'em out.
IMO its between Abraham's and Pacquiao's.
They were both the definition of highlight reel knockouts. But I would give the nod to Pac's against Hatton. That was just sick.
i would give the nod to pitalua vs. reyes. these kind of fighters don't get much exsposure as it is and the knockout is just as worthy as pacquiao vs. hatton. the fight as a whole didn't seem as one-sided as pacquaio vs. hatton and hatton was already knocked down twice in the previous round. this knockout came out of nowhere.
This has always been my argument as well.
Don't get me wrong, the Pac-Hatton KO was sick, but was still inevitable.
Pitalua was way behind from what I remember (I think I maybe gave him a round out of the first five), before all but beheading him with that final right hand.
This was pretty good, not the best but I like how he just springs out with the left hook
this is a good KO! played this over and over.. classic rope-a-dope then bang! bang! bang!
KO of the Year has got to be Pacquiao vs. Hatton...Pacman not only knocked this dude out, but he almost damn near killed the guy in the middle of the ring...Pac committed first degree man-slaughter in front of millions & millions of witnesses, but he sure as hell ain't goin' to jail for it! Unbelievable KO and a sight to see in slow-mo!
pac-hatton for me ...
and expecting another bomb from PAC on the 14th of nov ...
Wouldn't it be something if Manny got the number 1 and 2 KO's of the Year...
Personally I think it's Mosley vs. Margarito for one reason. Before the fight, it was said that Margarito was unstoppable because of his iron chin. Then comes along Shane Mosley who mercilessly blasted him out of the sport. Absolutely classic.
