Ok, before I get slagged let me say this - I had Dirrell winning the fight by a couple of rounds. Also of course Froch isn't the best boxer in the world.
However......
That fight totally stank the place out. Running and potshotting are part and parcel of a defensive boxer, so that's all good.
However dropping to your knees to avoid your opponent, holding EVERY time he gets near you (please don't compare that shit to the Hatton-Tzsyu fight - Hatton was the aggressor in that fight, plus it's the ref's job to stop it if he sees fit) and constantly complaining doesn't do you any favours.
Did Dirrell really expect or deserve to win a World title like that? The sad thing is he showed he had the speed and movement to beat Froch, he was just too negative.
And don't say 'it's called boxing and he boxed' - if all boxing matches were like that we'd all be watching MMA. These guys are paid a lot of money to entertain, that's why we shell out for PPV's and subscription channels. Nobody pays to see that shit.
It was a close fight, a messy fight and if the decison doesn't go your way you can't complain.
The only person that robbed Dirrell last night was himself.
Agree with you but I didnt score it for Dirrell, but I felt it should have been a draw.
A lot of the rounds were so messy they could have been scored either way, so how anyone can call it a robbery I have no idea.
It's pot luck how the judges score a fight like that so you can't complain if you don't get the decision.

*agrees with this post*
your all bein stupid again see, this is boxing, these guys actually have talent and skill, and why would someone risk getting their face punches in when they dont have to? go watch mma i dont care for you
You obviously didn't read my post.
As I said, defensive skills are part of boxing - including running and potshotting. Dirrell showed more than enough skill to win the fight, indeed I and many other English fans had him winning it.
What Dirrell did that wasn't good was dropping on his knees to avoid being hit, grabbing hold of Froch whenever he got anywhere near, turning his back and constantly complaining to the ref.
Those things made it a terrible messy fight and that's why he didn't get the decision. And thank god he didn't because he stank the place out because of it. It's a shame because he showed real speed and talent when he did actually fight.
Maybe next time he'll just use his skills instead of all that shit he pulled last night.
dirrell won the fight but didnt deserve the decision and thats why he didnt get it. if froch was the challenger and direll came into the fight champion then yes direll wins but u cant win a belt like that by potshottin and running away. Especially when you are a no namer whos fought a bunch of no namers. someone in his position needed to make a statement and he didnt
The irony is that if Dirrell had fought properly he could have knocked Froch out. Easily. In those last few rounds Dirrell was landing at will and not being hit back at all. Every round leading up to that he was running, avoiding, holding and dropping to his knees.
Good post, i agree with you. To win a a title like that would be ridiculous, Dirrell was so negative it was unreal. He made the fight boring to, holding, complaining to the ref, running around the ring all night wasn't pretty atall. To win a world title you need to box and show something special in there!
Boxing would never be like that across the board because whether you like it or not is took skill for Dirrell to fight the fight he fought, not all fighters are capable of fighting that way, so your point is stupid.
Not all fighters fight with their face because they want to, they fight that way because they dont know how to fight any different and win.
I have to agree. Dirrell wasn't there to fight. He was trying to minimize any contact with Froch and made himself look quite silly in the proccess. I had Dirrell winning but there were alot of close rounds mid fight and he did himself no favours with some of his antics. Kid seems to have mega skills but is lacking that killer edge at the moment. Hopefully this loss will be good for him and wakes him up in future fights.

spot on agree 100%
cracking post, agree with all of it
co-sign.
great post.
Also, as has been said this fight will encourage Dirrell to change slightly. To become a more rounded fighter. He lost the fight, but he probably has Froch's number if he were to meet him again, but he'd need to behave better and have something for Froch on the inside.
It's not even as though Froch can really fight on the inside himself. There was no need for a lot of the holding. I don't think Carl Froch is particularly dangerous at close quarters. He took out Brian Magee with a good uppercut but apart from that? he doesn't really have it in him.
I agree. Im pretty sure if I had scored the fight while watching, I would've had Dirrell winning. But it really wouldn't have set well with me. To take a man's title like that? Yeah, yeah I know that shouldn't matter but still. Let Dirrell go back to the lab, work on in-fighting and continue to gain experience and give him another crack.
