In the video of the press conference for Green/Roy, Roy states that he has signed a contract with Hopkins but after he knocks out Green, Hopkins ain't gonna want to fight.
He says he is not even expecting that fight and he only signed the contract because it is damn near impossible to get Bernard to sign a contract.
Do you all think the Executioner is b*tchmade like Roy says he is? Afterall, he has been showing some b*tcha$$ness as of lately when it comes to Dawson, fighting some guy who no one knows, and them shenanigans he pulled in the post interview with Floyd?
Will hopkins make some excuses If Roy looks good?
Are you using the same excuse for Tarver that Jones used when Tarver handed him a TKO loss. sounds like it. Tarver looked like shit because Hopkins made him look that way. end of. Hopkins didn't make Tarver be part of a rocky movie, was Hopkins supposed to fight him at heavyweight ? :dunce:
It's definitely a valid excuse even Mackie Shilstone who trained both Hopkins and Jones says it was wrong move for Roy to move down in weight. Roy used him to Bulk up for Ruiz, Shilstone wasn't working with Roy the first Tarver fight. Jones felt he could do it on his own. So he rehired him for the rematch and Jones got KOed. As you can see since Hopkins moved up he hasn't dropped back in weight. Seeing Roy being the prototype he learned what not to do late in his career. Check the interview from Shilstone.
I found this old interview Mackie on btalk. Yall can check the achives to find it 6/12/08. He pretty much talking about Roy saying his body wasn't right etc. Very informative interview.
What happened to Roy Jones when he went back down to light-heavyweight to fight Tarver after you had helped him move up and beat Ruiz for the heavyweight title?
You have to remember Roy is such a talented athlete. The muscle that was put on is very difficult to take off. It was a very tough fight. Draining to anyone but he ended up winning. The same thing happended to Tarver when he did the Rocky movie. He was in the 220s then he came down and he was compromised against Bernard. I would have liked to see Roy stay at heavyweight, and I told him that. I think Roy would have beaten Tyson. I think Roy would have beaten Holyfield, but the fights weren't there. Muscle is not easy to take off, it affects your immune system.
How much did Roy weigh for the Ruiz fight?
200 lbs.
There was a story circulating he had weights in his pocket and he really weighed 193.
Before we went down for the weigh-in we were all kidding what Roy would weigh. Roy had been in the range of 199-200. What happned was Roy got on the scale and a fight broke out between Alton Merkerson and Ruiz's camp. Mark Ratner who was doing the weigh-in never let the scale adjust because the fight had broke out. I know Mark, and told him that's not his weight you should correct it. When Roy went to the hotel room and got on the scale he was laughing and saying "I can't believe it". He takes his shirt off and steps on the scale, and this is on the documentary ESPN did called "The Sweet Science". Mark Ratner was there too. I told him to call HBO so they wouldn't think it was rebound weight and they mentioned that on the broadcast

Will hopkins make some excuses If Roy looks good? There won't be a bigger Jones fan come December than Bernard Hopkins. The entire revenue of the fight rides on the performance that Roy has against Danny. HBO hasn't decided yet if the card is a PPV or B.A.D. HBO also hasn't decided how much they are willing to shell out for this fight. Just that this fight is a go as long as Jones gets by Green. And the interest in the fight will come from how people percieve how competetive Jones/Hopkins would be. That also affects the undercard, where Flores/Fragomeni or Huck WAS a possibility. It's all still up in the air.
Hopkins should have taken the fight way back when he was offered 40/60 (when roy was #1 pound for pound).
I also think hopkins will have problems with roy's style...even if they hook up when they are 60.
60/40 i kick yo ass. classic !!
Pretty sure Bernard will make a career payday for what just might be his last fight, probably the easiest of all the big money fights he could make. So no.

calzaghe and pavlik, middleweights you say? but is'nt hopkins a lightheavyweight? and since we're on the subject did'nt antonio tarver look like a weight drained shadow of himself after coming down from 220 pounds? have you noticed bernard hopkins refuses to fight anyone unless they change weight class?
you:well smartass, incase you had'nt noticed im a straight queer for bernard hopkins so i refuse to mention those points and only think positive of my luv bear.
Calzaghe was a career super middleweight but talked about for years how he planned on moving up to 175.
Pavlik is a huge middleweight who had plans of moving up in weight before Hopkins dissed him out a school lesson. Pavlik will probably be a 168/175lber later in his career.

speaking of Hopkins never changing weight for his opponent, didn't Hopkins agree to fight DLH at the catchweight of 156 for his middleweight crown which was only two pounds shy of where DLH was natural at, at that stage in his career.
Let's not forgot that Hopkins moved up two weight classes to dominate the man at 175 in Tarver who was a huge favourite to win going in.
Hopkins fought Wright and Pavlik at 170 because at 42/43 he physically couldn't get any lower, lets also not forget both Wright and Pavlik were favourites over Hopkins but both couldn't deal with the old man.
That is normally the case, but i don't know about him with his old age an all. Who is this guy he fightin in Dec? i know it's a tuneup and all, but Roy fighting Green a titleholder. why not fight Adamek?
Because Adamek is not Green, and would certainly be a more challenging fight for Hopkins than Roy will be.
i wouldn't exactly call the IBO a legit title.
Why should you expect Hopkins tune up to be the best fighter at cruiserweight and Jones is allowed to settle for a overblown light heavyweight fighting at cruiserweight who has accomplished nothing of note.
I don't care if Jones and Hopkins are at different stages in their careers
, at the end of the day they are both fighting tune ups.
Adamek is not a tune up for anyone also.
ok fair enough. But even with all your points, how do u explain that we don't even know the guy he is fighting next? atleast we have heard of green!

Yep B-Hop is terrified. He saw how great he looked against the definite HOF's and ATG's Sheika and Lacy and realized it was 1995 again...
LMAO....this is too funny. this is some good points though. Sheika and Lacy can make folk look good.
Bernard has fought the likes of Taylor, Calzaghe, Pavlik, etc in the past 4 years.
I doubt he is scared to fight a faded version of Jones.
Ex just wants his revenge.
And i favor Jones over Taylor and Pavlik right now. Roy owns hopkins, always has!
You're better then this, Bernard ain't afraid of nobody.

end of thread!!!
why do you think bhop has only fought midgets, if he was fearless he would've went up in weight ages ago and cleaned made himself jones mandatory or someshit
If the likes of Tarver, Calzaghe, Pavlik, etc are midgets, Hopkins must be a natural super heavyweight.
