I was watching the Mayweather/Judah with a friend and I told him that Floyd was just outboxing him. And he said, "What does that mean." And I couldn't put into words...lol
Only the greatest defensive fighter of all time. DURRR. He was super slick and never got hit. A pure boxer.
F*ck that, Hatton > LaMotta by a mile when it comes down to silky boxing skills.
If the name of the game is to hit and not get hit, then these two are numbers 1 & 2 on the ATG list.

Found this in terms of the actual origin of the word:
Boxing got its name from the latin word for fighting: boxeo.
To slap or stroke with the fist.

my definition of boxing is:
to hit and not get hit
to outthink your opponent
to outmanuever them as well
its not called "brawling" or "fighting" for a reason because its "boxing"
damn mak thats just harsh.....id hate to be a casual fan around you
I would'nt ask Mak what the term slapping meant when folks talk about Calzaghe thats 4sure...
I've heard just box, box this kid! Instead of saying outboxing, some people say boxing. You could have said to fight from the outside, a good distance.
But fighters like Toney and Frazier both could box well from the inside.
Boxing is landing one single punch or a combo on your opponent, then moving out of range everytime you finish. When you box you stay out of range, use your jab, don't go punch for punch and finish combos with a defensive move( blocking, ducking, clinching,..). You move also and create angles.
you shoulda potshotted him in the mouth then shoulder rolled his counter...then tell him 'THAT's boxing'
lol
Yeh he should clock on then pretty quick to what boxing means
