what is the main thing that makes a fighter good? The fire inside of them that longs to be a champion. If you want to know why black americans dominate in boxing just look at the demographics. Minorities make up a large part of inpovershed america. What do white americans suburbanites have to fight for? They have more opportunities and usually take a different route from boxing. Now take a black american that may come from a family with little income. These guys will have less oppurtunities in life and the only way to make a name for themselves is to fight. They have the fire. Now im not saying all black americans are poor. That would be VERY wrong. I am just saying that they have more drive to suceed because their sport maybe their opportunity to make a name for themselves. Same thing for Basketball, Football, and every other sport in America. I myself am a white southerner. The area I am from is relatively poor. Many of my friends who were black used sports as their ticket out of here. Not because that was all they were good at but because sports were their only chance to get into college( families could not afford it) But frankly i could care less if my american fighters are black, white, asian, mexican-american, or ****ing purple. I am proud of my fellow americans for their achievements no matter what color, race, or creed. Nice post, especially agree with the bold. Other countries don't understand how far we have come in terms of welcoming other cultures and races into our own and as a result they are seen as the same. Sure there's still racism but overall when shit comes down to it we're all Americans. To TS, genetically I think white Americans are not as suited to sports that involve high speed, high power output such as sprinting, boxing, etc. However, they are suited for sports that combine endurance and speed and power(see cycling, soccer (football), decathlon, etc.

the excuses on here have been woeful.. Carl froch is from a humble white ara of nottingham, but hes got a degree in engineering..same with nathan cleverly, hes even moe ioressive with a maths degree at cardiff... Yet they are schooling people of all races, both are not from as poor a areas as people from detrpit, compton etc... Euros don't have that. That's why the Whites tricked the Blacks into thinking Baseball wasn't cool anymore so they would move out of that sport into Basketball and Football. Now we can play again. Whites used to own Basketball and Football at one time as well before Blacks got the right to play those sports as Pros...then, as always, the Talent Rises to the top. And that is why we make sure Hockey is still on Ice. I'm trying to follow the pattern of this thread...so refreshing ;)

err froch is a genuwine super middle weight pavlik not...completely different fight..even if you think hopkins would win which he wouldnt even you would have to admit froch power wuld carry better... Froch would knock out hopkins and end his career... Man please, Hopkins getting beat by Froch? I could not ever imagine that happening. Most gyms are in ethnic areas, more whites have "rich" parents (rich compared to the parents of minorities in poor areas) who give them stuff and preach college so they play a little high school ball but have no real intention to make it in any sport as a career. In poorer areas, mostly Blacks and Hispanics pursue sports as a career path and as a result, take it seriously. If you train as hard as you can at something and have dreams of succeeding at that, then you are going to be better than someone who does the same thing as a hobby. Most Arabic, Indian, and Asian families in poorer areas are heavily family oriented and are taught to stick together and tend to have a family business of some sort and share the wealth among the family members and often end up going to college or running the family business. Poorer whites in poor demographic areas tend to stay in the area and work menial jobs not make a career of sports. I would assume the demographic trends in certain areas have a lot to do with which career paths that people choose. Genetics have a little to do with it but stereotypes often lead people to feel certain ways in general about races I think.

again, with any region, culture, ethnicity, It all boils down to what that particular groups interest are and what athletes they look up to. I guarantee 99% of the time if ask certain races who their favorite players are, there will be a correlation between their favorite players and the sports that are popular in their region. For example...In Mexico, Soccer is king with boxing being a close second. Most Mexican kids play soccer or box...so its no surprise that you see a lot of great boxers and soccer players from Mexico. (soccer might be a bad analogy though because soccer is pretty much popular everywhere, that is why no particular country stands out as better than the other) Same with AA's and basketball. Basketball is one of the most popular sports and if you go to any African American community you will see pick up games. So its no surprise that you see more blacks in the NBA. BTW soccer is a good example because since it is popular world wide and played world wide, there is no particular region that is consistently better than the others.

In all honest, the only reason whites in america aren't as succesful in boxing is soley due to a lack of interest. It's the same reason you don't see blacks in sports like tennis, soccer, and swimming. Those things aren't popular in the "black community" so you have less kids doing those things at a young age. The typical white american kid is into extreme sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, bmx and stuff like that. Sports wise It just depends on the location. Sports wise, most white kids I know are into Football, baseball, hockey, tennis, golf...anything but boxing. Now that MMA came along, It is probably the most popular of any sports in the white community, with extreme sports being a close second.

You guys are complete and utter idiots. No white American athletes? Have you looked at some of the best players in the NFL? What about Baseball which is still heavily white and hockey. Some of the very best hockey players come from USA and they are all white. White Americans just like white Europeans have always and will always struggle in boxing. Boxing is a game of speed and you only see the Europeans dominate the Heavyweight division, a division that is mainly about power. For every okay white European there is a Kelly Pavlik or a Paulie Malanaggi.
