Tyson saved Boxing

I became a hardcore boxing fan 11/05, due to Tyson. He gave life to this sport like no other. HAIL TO THE KING LOOK HOW FAST TYSON WAS.. He was faster than manny and was 220lbs,, I remmeber larry homles saying he couldnt see the punches coming

how about just saying tyson is one of the most influential boxers of all time? certain people are always going like watching two guys beat the shit out of each other, and certain people are going to like to beat the shit out of each other for money...mike tyson or no mike tyson... you may be bitter cause youre fat and stupid.

Way back then.... When you hear "Tyson", you feel the spirit of boxing... When you hear "Schwarzenegger", you feel the spirit of body building. When you hear "Hulk Hogan, you feel the spirit of wrestling.... When you hear "Margarito", you feel the spirit of plaster........ When you hear "Mayweather" you feel like you are being chased by IRS... :D

I think "saved" as far as boxing as a whole, is the wrong choice. Tyson drew interest in the HW division and boxing in general...but boxing was still good with lower weight division fighters. Tyson helped bring in new blood but it wasn't going to die.

Although at he was a huge draw for the sport and he was great to watch ....he was all so detrimentall for it to....what with raping people...assaulting people in the street...biting people ears off ...hiting people after the ref said stop...etc I dont think he saved boxing with this behavior in fact i think he might have damaged it !:( Disagree. If he ruined it then why was he a big star after prison? People just like to blame him because they can. Tyson brought in fans, fans that became Pro Boxers who would capture their own fans. This sport is built on destruction and violence. So much so, that two of the biggest stars of the sport, fought similar: Dempsey and Tyson. It's the same reason why people run to a street-fight.

How many boxers have already gone on record and said that it was because of Tyson that they got into boxing. Just imagine if Pac hadn't listened to the Tyson fight.

i bet if you ask 100 18-year old kids to name one current heavyweight fighter, maybe one or two would be able to name one... outside of the brothers k, its not even a real division... my point wasnt that tyson didnt affect the sport positively...he did...theres no arguing that... but to say he "saved" boxing is just a bold ass statement...especially when the division he thrived in is a festering dump...

All that plus his greatest wins include a shot Holmes, a shot spinks and Frank Bruno! He was exciting to watch, because you always felt that a knockout was near, but I don't think he saved anything. I heard he saved a piece of Evanders ear.

tyson is the reason i became a boxing fan.

I don't know about saving the sport. But he was the main reason i became a fan of boxing when i was younger.
