Sparring is indeed there to learn and improve, however it is also an indication of how the fighter is doing. If his sparring doesn't help over all, then there is something very wrong.
I don't know if this will make him put his hands up, but to get KD with 16 ounce glvoes and ehadgear is very bad because Cotto hits hard enough and can wear you down.
You guys sometimes just make such a stupids comments. How in da world just because somebody gets kd in a sparring round means that u r no good, even when u r sparring wit guys twice bigger than u. That means, if this is true that they r pushing him 2 da limits. That there r not just having parties and jogging around. When shit like this happens they just stop everything and get the tapes and look 2 avoid this to happend again. Is call learning. He is not f^kin Superman guys he learning, practicing and getting better. We don't even know if dat is true. I hope so, so he can start respecting a big dude's power and do a real smart fight. Yep I'm dreaming 4 a classic....

I don't like Pacquiao's training for this fight, first he's forced to train outside the US then he picks the Philippines to train, then the typhoon hit and he takes a little time off from his camp to help the people which is a good thing but it's still time off and he can't do his running because of the typhoon. Now these rumors which have a habit of being true.
yep chaos like this doesnt help his cause for sure. I bet Roach is pissed.
This is the link, pacland is in chaos now...

I wonder if 24/7 got that on footage. they should be recording by now right.
Doesn't matter if he did get his ass kicked in training camp, how he performs come fight night is all that matters. If Pac is getting knocked around in camp it means that he's taking Cotto seriously and bring in top quality sparring partners, nothing wrong with that. People forget that anyone can get caught or clipped in a fight/sparring, its the nature of the beast.

Roach says, not true.

Yay. Rumors FTW! By the 3rd page of the Pacland thread they agree that the statement is just as credible as the rumor that started it. Plus, the fight is still a month away.
I think this news gave alot of cotto's fans and pachaters a wet dream for today.
Not in a million years I would have thought of this reply. Are you speaking from experience then? http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif
rumor or not, you have to wonder whats really happening at that camp. I sincerely think that training in the PI was the worst thing he could have chosen to do, but we wont know until it happens
You can still get hurt with headgear and 16's. We got guys in my gym that come and go all the time due to sparring injuries. Granted, pac is a champion and consummate professional, but he can still be hurt. Say porter slams him with a body shot, flush. 16's 14's 12's..it doesn't make much of a difference if its a thunderous shot to the ribs.
And... while it is true these fighters probably respect, and look up to Pac, that won't stop them from trying to tear his head off. That's boxing.
Especially with a freaking financial incentive in place...
In a way, the fiercer your go at someone, the more you respect them, anyway. Whereas if one just goes partial effort, its almost like a show of disrespect. Like they aren't worthy of your full strength, type of thing.
Marvelously risky move by Roach...I hope it pays off and doesn't blow up in his face
I know that...I've been buzzed a couple of times myself, and I've put people down as well. But you fight how you train...if you don't have a guy coming at you with all he has, you aren't going to be ready for the real fight.
