Mosley Won't Be Chasing Anyone Anymore

Shane Mosley apparently won’t be chasing anyone for a big fight any longer. Mosley, who publicly lobbied for fights against Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. but couldn’t lure them into the ring, has an unsigned agreement to fight Andre Berto on Jan. 30 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on HBO. If he wins, he’d like to be back on HBO in April or May and then take part in what his promoter, Richard Schaefer called “a big pay-per-view event” in the second half of 2010. In other words, they hope that either Mayweather or the winner of the Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight on Nov. 14 would see Mosley as the most-lucrative option for them. And, apparently, Mosley won’t make too many concessions to make it happen. “What Shane and I decided is that we’re not going to chase the big fight,” Schaefer said. “We’re not going to make a fight on stupid terms. It has to be a fight that makes financial sense to Shane. If it doesn’t, he’s perfectly happy to just keep knocking guys out. “One thing is for sure, and I have no doubt about this, Shane will be the last man standing once all these fights have taken place. They’ll be no way to avoid him. And no one between 140 and 147 can beat him.” Schaefer reiterated that Mosley simply looked too good when he knocked out Antonio Margarito in January. “Sometimes you’re too good for your own good,” he said. “After Shane Mosley fought Ricardo Mayorga at the Home Depot Center, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Everybody wanted to fight Shane, including Bob Arum with Margarito. They were so confident he would win that they had plans for a rematch with Miguel Cotto at Madison Square Garden. Shane turned back the clock and showed everybody why he’s Shane Mosley. I think he took his inspiration from Bernard Hopkins, his friend and colleague (with Golden Boy Promotions). Kelly Pavlik made plans to fight someone else, overlooking Bernard, and we know what happened there. Never count Shane or Bernard out. Get rich and retire, you aint bringing exciting fights to the sport......great athlete, yes! an all time great? maybe only @135 and under....after that, a scared lil boy who wishes he could be a legend, and could have been had he not carefully hand picked fighters he knew had no chance......

El haitiano le va da un machetazo. :rofl: JaJa Tipico Dominicano... no luv for our Haitian neighbors. Jus' Kiddin'. I see this as a pretty competitive fight, in that Mosley has deteriorated (due to age more than anything else) and Berto has some of the fastest hands (but not much of anything else). Im prety sure Shane can pull off the W, and I hope he does - cuz Berto is waaaaay overrated.

Shane should have realized this six months ago and maybe he would be in better position. Anyways it is always a bad makes moves depending on others that may or may not give a shit about fighting said fighter. If Shane keeps winning I do think Floyd will fight him though, there is substancial hype around this fight and it is building, in a business sence it is better to let this fight simmer and get talked up for a year.

Like I told you Platano, I think Berto will beat Shane somehow. It will be sad if we are right!!! If Berto uses that style he used against Urango and manages to get away with that bitch shit, he could win. Plus Shane don't got the legs anymore. Believe Shane will win but I can see Berto winning. That won't surprise me at all, I hope not though.
