I personally believe that if Floyd would of at least got 1 loss in his professional career early on, he would of most defiantly improved his resume and took more chances. I think Floyd can handle people like Manny, Cotto, Mosley, etc. But his fear of his first loss now is to great to take any chances. Do you think a loss would of helped Floyd, or ruined him. I also think if he takes a loss now, it will ruin his ego, and we might possibly not see Floyd in the ring anymore. It's too bad, because he treats defense almost like an art form. It's fun to watch him out box people at times. Boring when he runs though.
Tons of well known pros loose early on in their careers and eventually turn into HOFers. I do understand that his undefeated career helps boost his fan base, but at the same time, I would of liked to see Floyd take more chances in his career. I think, 1 loss, would of defiantly helped out with that. A good majority of the greatest boxers have tasted defeat.
Bernard Hopkins, lost his FIRST fight and now look wheres he at in boxing
If he had one early loss maybe people wouldn't concentrate so much on the first Castillo fight so much and they would stop making up losses for him ahaha
i totally agree...the '0' definitely counts for something but for this fight fan, a true sign of greatness is how a fighter comes back from their first setback...
How a fighter handles adversity counting towards their greatness is fine but if a boxer's so good they never even get into any tight spots how can you knock em really?
Not that I believe this is true for Floyd; like I said before, the 1st Castillo bout definitely could have gone to JLC and I wouldn't have complained, and Mayweather rematched him and overcame him. You have to respect that he didn't pull a hit and run and just take the dodgy W and leave unanswered questions.
Can't say Mr boat buyer ain't take risks BITD. Dude used to be a str8 up beast. And he's clearly an ATG already. Only thing missin is SSM and the Pac-Cotto winner. If he gonna keep fightin, he needs to face those guys.
why dont u mention fighters that wouldve beaten him at 130 his good weight instead of way up in welter? how about u talk how his hands are just not up too par like before?
Well, I don't think Floyd has fought anything but WW since 2005 which is why I stated WW fighters. When I stated these 3 boxers as examples, I said he probably could handle them, BUT, his fear of one loss I believe is holding him back. In which if he would of had an early loss in his career, there is a good chance he would be taking more chances with his opponents to date.
And I really don't understand what your point is by saying his hands not being up to par like before? I have seen enough older fighters challenge themselves even though their bodies aren't as athletically inclined as before. So??? because Floyd is undefeated, means he should cherry pick?

I think if he wasn't robbed in the Olympics, he'd take more chances... that really tore him up inside

That is also true.
i agree with your logic.. but i'd still talk shit about him because he still refuses to fight guys in his own division.. once he fights all the top fighters at welterweight then he will be ATG.. even if he had one loss, not fighting the best is inexcusable..
A lot of people feel he lost to Castillo. He rematched Castillo straight away and beat him.
Happy OP?
Not only beat him, but beat him by a wide margin. Nobody complained about that one. Proves the first fight victory was a given despite the injury.
Floyd is on a mission to fight the winner of the welter weight division championship taking place on Nov. 14.
I don't think he'll hang around to fight bums for less money than he's used to generating.
I think he would've been more devastated losing to Marquez on points.

If he lost and came back and beat the person he lost to then i would respect him a lot more and i think we would see an event more formidabble version of Mayweather.
It would certainly boost his ATG status if he did that.
His whole selling point though is the fact he is undefeated.
