for the last couple years every single fight seems to be on ppv, even the fights where neither guy was a name it was still put on ppv and generated low numbers.
this seems to have changed in 2009
cotto vs clottey wasn't on ppv,nor was williams vs winky or margarito vs mosley.or Klitschko vs arreola
the fights would have been put on ppv three years ago without question.
so what has changed exactly? why have there been less fights on ppv? not that I'm complaining of course, less ppv is a good thing
Does showtime even do ppv anymore?
This year since we went into a bad recession hbo has only been putting the big matches on ppv.The last 6 months have been bad because alot of fights fell through but we are ending the year good.We have alot of good fights coming up in the next 3 months.
Chad Dawson vs Glen Johnson
Lucian Bute vs Librado Andrade
Joan Guzman vs Ali Funeka
Kelly Pavlik vs Paul Williams
Sergio Martinez vs Joshua Clottey
Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto
Arthur Abraham vs Jermain Taylor
Carl Froch vs Andre Dirrell
Mikkel Kessler vs Andre Ward
Timothy Bradley vs Lamont Peterson
Nikolay Valuev vs David Haye
I couldn't have put it better myself. I wonder if those mini 24/7's aka "Countdown to Fighter A - Fighter B" will ever come back for the lesser fights.
