Vitali has only a few fights left. He'll probably box only 2-4 fights, before he retires.
Who will he need to fight to have a small chance to be remembered as an ATG? Besides Wladimir, that is?
If you had to name THREE, who would they be?
My would be Chambers, Povetkin, and the winner of Valuev/Haye.

vitaly is gonna have to dominate for the next couple of years...
vitaly is gonna have to break some records.
there isn't any one specific fight he has to beat to become ATG.
I don't know...
He hasn't got the competition to make him an ATG. We don't know how he'd fare against great competition.
He's only fought decent fighters, not many really good ones.
well we do know he did well against Lewis for 4 rounds untill Lewis took over and smashed his face to bits. who knows he might have gone on to win that one if he didnt have so much damage, but the way it was going after 6 rounds I believe Lewis would have got the KO:hitit:

His brother is the only fighter that could make him GREAT, let alone ATG.
I think Wlad could be. Wlad >>> Vitali
i disagree,he has beaten a lot of top fighters but no-one great because the competition wasnt their
it doesnt help that hes boring as hell and has losses against b/c class fighters
he has pretty much done all he can, apart from fighting less cautiously.
Honestly, all the Klit's need is to fight each other and they will go down in history as two of the best heavyweights of all time.
People don't like talent as much as they like stories.
You just watch. I predict they fight each other end of next year and are inducted into the HOF on that one fight alone.
Like others have said, I think that ship has sailed frankly. The competition is just not there. You gotta consider that Wlad more or less gets first dibs on the top contenders too.
Assuming Haye doesn't lose to Valuev or indeed Ruiz, he'd be a nice name on the resume. The rest are standard title defenses really, no offense to them, they're not gonna give him any significant boost legacy-wise.
I think he should stop ducking the great Sam Peter, even the RING said Vitali won coz Sam Peter wasn't in the best conditions. Sam Peter is the G.O.A.T:
I feel a bit sorry for Vitali. He gets bullied a bit for not being a great heavyweight. But he is the standout heavyweight of a bad bunch really. I think Vitali is much better than given credit for.
But i would like to see him and haye someday. He must fight haye before he retires/
Povetkin, Chambers and Haye are the only worthy contenders in the division. He beats all of those but Povetkin and Chambers will not fight him they have shots at Wlad's title who is seen as the easier option.
Haye might if he gets past Valuev and Ruiz. Might be too late by then though.
I'll give him David Haye. If Tyson can get boosted up for beating Michael Spinks, who was undefeated at the time and beat Larry Holmes for the title....and Marciano can be boosted up to ATG status for beating past prime LHs....Vitali can get some credit for the former CW Champion David Haye.
Yea and now they are throwing in Makaev, that won't really help. He'll destroy Johnson just as easy, but atleast he's younger and more game than Maskaev.

the winner of that may have to meet Ruiz first.

If Haye wins the title against Vaulev and Vitali then knocked Haye out that would help him.
