Name some top light heavyweights that Hopkins fought, other than Tarver.
Name 3 of his best wins at Middleweight and tell me if they were against top MW's.
A Resume exceeds more than just 1 big bout.
Hopkins faced and beat Lipsey, Glen Johnson, Allen, Joppy, Trinidad and DLH at MW.
People say Trinidad and DLH were too small.
Which is Rubbish. Trinidad was MW Champ, and expected to KO Hopkins into retirement.
DLH was 158lbs, to Hopkins 156lbs. Yet Hopkins STILL put ALL his belts on the line.
People like to say "Hopkins is the natural MW". Well they forget the dude was around 40 at these bouts.
To Say Trinidad and DLH mean nothing, means Hagler was a fraud, for facing blown up LW Duran, and Blown WW Hearns, and LOSING to a blown up WW Leonard
You need to weigh things out for what they are. Hopkins should not get different treatment, but his age Must be taken to account, no matter how he still performs.
You have to admit that Roy had more talent than almost anyone he every faced. Yes he moved up in weight and captured a title Ruiz. Cant take that away from him, but B-Hop has proven to be the smarter fighter IMO. Plus B-Hop did better than Roy against Calzaghe, proof that he is a better fighter at this stage in their career.
bhop has also only faced one opponent bigger than him(which was weight drained), bhop has also never moved up two weight classes and back down two weight classes in 6 months to fight a highly ranked contender
instead bhop has been dropped 2 times in his career against a bum, has drawn against a bum, has lost against anyone that does'nt have a disadvantage going into the fight with him
and has had close fights with countless of people, some bums, others midgets
Dropped? LOL?
It's Boxing you joke.
If you really want to go that route, FYI, Hopkins v Mecardo was at 10,000 Feet in ECUADOR! Watch the bout. Hopkins was not even in trouble, the dude just fell over, but at the same time almost won by stoppage.
The Re-Match held in normal venue, Hopkins won in the middle rounds.
Big difference between falling over due to no Air, and being KO'd dangerously.
Their both talented in different ways, but for one thing. Hopkins Resume > RJJ's Resume
RJ is still goin down in history more highly regarded than Bhop, even if Bhop beats him. Bhop aged better and remained elite past his prime while RJ fell off. But overall RJ will be remembered as the better fighter.
I dont know about being in Roys shadow, but no matter what happens BHop will never overshadow Roy. I dont even like BHop, but he has huge balls for fighting Roy now. Roy has everything to win and nothing to lose.
B-Hop didnt have as much talent as Roy and had to work harder throughout his career. Because of this B-Hop focused on every aspect of the fight game making him a better overall fighter than Roy. The proof is that B-Hop has never been KO'd or seriously hurt in a fight. We all know about Roy!
