This got mentioned in another thread about whether or not Pac/Cotto will outsell Floyd/JMM.
Bottom line is I want to see the fight. I don't care how many other people paid to see it.
Also, I think Pac/Cotto will outsell Floyd/JMM. But who gives a shit either way? Pac doesn't fight for the money. He fights for the legacy. That's the difference between Pac and Floyd.
Lebron James can get paid more than double what he gets paid in America to go play in Europe. He could get paid twice as much for half the work. Why doesn't he? Cos greatness isn't about money. Lebron James wants to be the best. And so does Pac. I wish I could say the same about Floyd.
anyone can talk. Supposedly Floyd can beat Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, Pwill, and half the contenders all the way upto 168. SO THEN DO IT. Saying it and proving it are the difference.
The REAL difference..one word..."Class" Pac has it, Floyd don't and thats why so many love and appreciate the imperfect Pac but shit on the asshole Floyd.
If Pac fights for legacy then he should have agreed to face Cotto at his regular fighting weight! This fights is for the money, aint nothing wrong with that though fighters should get as much as they can will their able. I think fans worry about legacy more than most fighters do.
who's making the bigger compromise for this fight to happen?
Cotto coming down 2 pounds?
Or Pac going up 10 pounds?
Yeah I know Pac fought DLH at 147 and Hatton at 140 in the last two fights. Was that really normal? Oh and before that he had one fight at 135. All of his other fights were at 130 and below for his entire career. Should his next fight be at 154 then? Cos obviously going up a division in consecutive fights is expected of him.
I'm not saying GETTING PAID TO DO WHAT YOU LOVE is a bad thing.
My point is that disregarding legacy and legit contenders and taking on fights that make maximum profits and "business sense" is a bad thing. Those are clearly two different ideals.
What did Floyd do when the heat was on from fans and critics for him to fight Margarito or Cotto? He "retired".
And no Floyd isn't the greatest super featherweight of all time. I'm not even old enough to have seen their fights, but in terms of all time Floyd is not close in the legacy department to guys like Azumah Nelson or Alexis Arguello.
Also, no IT'S NOT A BONUS for us to watch Floyd fighting at WW. He is not a "blown up" super featherweight. He was in his early 20's when he fought that light. As a fully grown and mature adult his natural weight in his early 30's is at 147.
The same way that a fully grown adult JMM at the age of 36 is still a natural 130 pounder. A 36 year old shouldnt have to pack on that much weight so that he can fight at 147.

Floyd is the greatest "BOXER" in the world. Who gives a shit if he fights for the money? He fights for the money and the legacy follows him. You guys don't understand how great of a fighter he is.
It's this type of shit that makes people hate Mayweather fans.
So... IF Pac gets past Cotto, what are you going to say when Floyd beats Pac?
Not only will he make the money (which, I agree shouldn't mean shit to fans), but he'll also add to the legacy.
