All this talk of how many numbers PBF v JMM and Pac v MC will do has got me wanting to see what every fight has done in recent years. I've seen a similar list before but can't remember where. Cheers guyssss
I ordered Cotto-Malignaggi instead of Hopkins-Tarver.
Remember that?
I figured that Cotto was cheaper, and it would be harder for me to see the replay. In fact - TO THIS DAY - i still meet a lot of 'hardcore' fans who never saw that fight. Paulie was hutsy as hell. His face was WRECKED.
Also, I wanted to spite Tarver. One of my least fav fighters.
That's a pretty weird choice for a fight to order to, unless you're a Cotto fan. I know you couldn't have been a Malignaggi fan because he didn't have any fans at that point. He hadn't even had one even remotely notable fight! I don't know what you spent on it, but I wouldn't have paid $10
i was one of the 305k that got lulled to sleep by hopkins v wright...
at least katsidis kept the undercard LIVE!!!
lol you actually ordered that even after boxing EXPERTS told you not to? HBO was practically telling you not to do it during their countdown show, comparing it to old men playing chess. looool
I knew Mayweather couldn't have possibly gotten 8mill against a No Namer (At the time) in Margarito. I mean for starters, I found out about Margarito when C'mmomang (However you spell it) and Viva Mexico starting bringing him up.
If that is how you found out about Margs then you are in no way a true boxing fan
you are a casual fan
Well, Floyd would have gotten the 8 mill. But it would have been 8 mill of Floyd's own money.
Here's what i mean:
Imagine if YOU challenged Oscar to a fight. And offered Oscar ten million dollars. And you penciled yourself in for a million. Well, there will be enough people who will pay to watch Oscar fight ANYONE, right? So, that fight will get 400K PPV's, and make $20 mill and you pay Oscar his ten mil and you take your mil. But the reality is that nobody would have ever paid to see YOUR ass fight.
At the time that Margarito "offered" $8 million, Tony had never even made ONE million himself. What Top Rank was counting on was for PBF to bring in the usual 350K+ ish that he had been generating.
350K = 17 mil
gate = 3 mil
site fee = 2 mil
sponsors = 1 mil
TOTAL = 23 mil
So, they pay Floyd his eight mil, Tony gets his one mil, and Arum makes an assload of money. If Floyd wins, so what? Doesn't hurt TM's career. But if TM wins, then wow!! Arum hit the jackpot. It was all very transparent. And Floyd didn't go for the banana in the tailpipe.
But the posters on this site were losing their minds : "omg lolx pwned gayfeather is ducking margarito lolz bitch boy".
WOWZERS, I can see why Arum couldn't get over the split :rofl:
Yeah that would have pretty much done 350K, Mayweather did 325K against Baldomir by himself. So you're right, Mayweather's money into Margarito/ his own pocket.
Either way, don't sweat it. Whn you get down to those levels, it doesn't make much of a difference. As long as it wasn't Jones-hanshaw levels.
Do you guys see why Floyd doesn't want to bother with Shane? SM has never carried a card. Yet, he will/does want "A' money. Shane AND Margarito fought on a double header that didn't sell.
And when Margarito tried to carry a card, he sold 35K for a fight with Shotgun Gomez. In a small room at the Aladdin. And that room was half-empty. Then, Arum was chasing FMJ for a fight with Margarito. Team mayweather was laughing at that. Floyd was looking at much bigger fish.
I knew Mayweather couldn't have possibly gotten 8mill against a No Namer (At the time) in Margarito. I mean for starters, I found out about Margarito when C'mmomang (However you spell it) and Viva Mexico starting bringing him up.
You can see the difference between when Mayweather fights a nobody or unpopular fighter vs when Pacquiao does.
The industry buzz was that Pac-Diaz was actually about 175K. Arum never released official figure. Pac/Solis tanked also.
So, in Team Mayweather's perspective, They have exceeded Pac's sales against three common opponents (JMM pending) and they blow Pac away vs grade B fighters.
That is why I expect contentious negotiations. And that is why Arum/Roach keep telling people not to buy the Numero Uno fight*
* which is shocking and appalling that boxing insiders would tell the public NOT to watch a fight.
Angers me, how there is beef within boxing :grr:
Yeah, Pacquiao vs Diaz did like 185K (Something like that) but then I heard otherwise, 250K can't remember from where. So I'm confused :dunno:

Floyd Mayweather's shutout victory against Carlos Baldomir to win the world welterweight championship last Saturday night in Las Vegas generated 325,000 pay-per-view buys, HBO announced Friday.
The fight, which cost $49.95, generated $16.3 million in television revenue, but was the weakest performing of the three cards Mayweather has headlined on HBO PPV.
Both of his previous HBO PPV fights, which cost $44.95, did more business.
Mayweather's lopsided decision win against Zab Judah in April generated 374,000 buys and $16.8 million in revenue and his June 2005 destruction of Arturo Gatti to win a junior welterweight belt generated 365,000 buys and $16.5 million.
Despite the dropoff in sales, HBO put a positive spin on the total.
"We're very pleased with Mayweather's PPV performance, especially given that Baldomir had little previous exposure in the US," HBO PPV's Mark Taffet said.
Baldomir's only previous U.S. exposure came in his January upset of Judah to win the welterweight title and his July knockout of Gatti in his first defense.
Thanks alot man.
thats fkn amazing...great stats...looks like TYSON was plugging PPVs since his amateur days :)
Tyson's is the true "Mr. PPV"... If he didnt go to jail he would have Oscar's spot at biggest box office maker... Tyson was a true draw he could of fought a can of sardines and would of did 1mil+ sales
Sweet, thanks man. This is U.S only yeah? Intrigued to see how high some of Floyds PPVs actually are. Only 10k less for the Judah fight (apparently a fight not worth watching) than the Pacquiao v Marquez fight which was eagerly anticipated by all, says it all!
